Complexion is at the core of the bareMinerals brand so I was really keen to test out this new launch. Here’s the lowdown on the bareMinerals Original Liquid Mineral Concealer. I have photos, swatches and answers to questions about how it compares to the bareSkin serum concealer and more.

I’ve got a nice selection of the lighter shades to show you. I have decided that shade Fair 1W is my favourite, however, you can check out some other options in my swatches below.

What is bareMinerals Original Liquid Mineral Concealer?

If you pay close attention to ingredients, you will notice that this one has a shorter ingredients list than bareSkin serum concealer.

When I first looked at the shade names, I thought I would be Fair 1N, but I actually really like Fair 1W.

I decided to use shade Fair 1W straight on to bare skin because it just works really well as an all over shade, the the texture is really spreadable so it can act a bit like a foundation.

My Review

I’ve been testing this out for a while and I have to say, I love it. I didn’t think I’d like it as much are the bareSkin Serum concealer (which was one of my favourites) but I absolutely do!

It has the same silky, gliding texture but actually offers quite a bit more coverage than the serum concealer. This is just one dip of the doe-foot:

I love the finish on my skin. It has the right amount of dewiness and I find it lasts really well, even without powder. I haven’t noticed any settling in lines which is great news.

Does bareMinerals Original Liquid Mineral Concealer cover blemishes?

This concealer has more coverage than bareSkin and so it’s more versatile. It is a good multi-tasker when it comes to dark circles and blemishes. I have also found it great on concealing pigmentation.

Is it hydrating?

I find Original Liquid Concealer lovely and hydrating, and I’m pleased to see that it offers skin benefits that promise to help improve the complexion’s appearance over time. I haven’t tested it long enough, or consistently enough to be able to vouch, however, I love the feel of it on my skin.

Water Lily extract is included in the formula for hydration.

What is the texture like?

It has a lovely lightweight silky cream texture that glides over the skin from the doe-foot. It is easy to blend either with a brush or fingers.

What is the difference between Original Concealer and the  bareskin Serum Concealer?

The similarities between the two concealers are the lightweight feel and the creamy texture. However, Original has more of a coverage focus than the serum one. bareSkin could looks quite shiny on some skin types but the new concealer gives more of a natural dewiness.

What is the coverage like?

The coverage is designed to be medium buildable and it really depends how you use it. For a sheer coverage a blend out with a buffing brush, or fluffy brush. For areas I want more coverage, I dot it on and then press it in with my fingertips. You can build up a really good level of coverage this way.

Does bareMinerals Original Liquid Mineral Concealer crease or settle into lines?

I have found that it stays pretty smooth, even without powdering. You may know, I like to avoid having to set complexion products where ever I can. I have been very pleased with how this wears.

What is the finish – matte or dewy?

I would say that this gives the skin a very naturally radiant finish. It’s not too shiny, but it definitely isn’t matte (thank goodness!). It’s less dewy than the bareSkin serum concealer, and actually, it hits a really nice middle ground.

Is bareMinerals Original Liquid Mineral Concealer suitable for mature skin?

Yes, this works well on mature skin – I am 46. It has nice hydration, and resists settling into lines well.

Is it long lasting?

I have been impressed with how long this lasts on my skin. I find it longer lasting than the serum concealer. So far, it has needed very minimal touching up.

How do you use?

I have been using it alone and also on top of my liquid foundations. If you’re using a liquid foundation, use it after applying foundation. If you are using a powder foundation, use it first and finish with your foundation.
