I absolutely love the Yves Saint Laurent Beauty Couture Variation eyeshadow palettes so I was thrilled we are getting a new one with The Shock 2017 Eye collection. If a smokey eye is your thing then this could be the palette for you. Here are the swatches of the brand new YSL The Shock Palette Couture Variation in No 4 Underground. Enjoy!

My other Couture Variation palette is No 1 and it’s all nude shades, so this deeper, more intense line up is a welcome addition. The shade range is absolutely gorgeous.

There are ten “underground’ shades of black and also what YSL are calling “colours to balance black”.

There are shimmers, mattes and metallics in powder form and also a couple of cream shades – one is a lid primer or highlighter and the other is a black eyeliner. It has rather a lot to offer!

The idea with Couture Variation No 4 Underground is that you can go for a rough, purposely imperfect look, or create a more refined, perfected smokey eye.

The textures are lovely – easy to apply and blend. And every shade is appealing. These long sleek palettes are amazing for travelling because they are super slim and come with a workable brush that you can actually use!
