Ooh I am liking this! The latest skincare launch from YSL is an extension of their best-selling Youth Liberator range which uses exclusive YSL skincare technology – the GLYCANACTIF complex – to stimulate your skin’s youthful functions to fight against wrinkles and fine lines.

Here’s the lowdown on YSL Forever Youth Liberator Y-SHAPE. The mission here? Firming, re-volumising and redefining.

So basically the theory is that women are pretty much over worrying about mere lines and wrinkles, and they are way more concerned about the ‘new facial expressions’ lent to them by sagging skin. I think it’s what we girls call ‘resting bitch face’.  Apparently our sagging skin is speaking the wrong emotional language – when we are happy, we look pretty peeved, all thanks to a loss of volume and a droopy expression, mainly in the lower part of the face, neck and decollete.

Cue new YSL Forever Youth Liberator Y-SHAPE concentrate and creme which feature innovative YSL Skinscience complex GLYCANACTIF-Y which is all about firming.  It is a powerful, active complex of glycans that promises to deliver a targeted firming approach.

There are 2 new products – YSL Forever Youth Liberator Y-SHAPE Concentrate and the YSL Forever Youth Liberator Y-SHAPE Creme.

YSL Forever Youth Liberator Y-SHAPE Concentrate

This is a light serum that transforms into a silky emulsion upon application and has LYFT-technology which delivers a instant tensing action on the skin’s surface for an immediate lifting effect. After one application it promises to increase skin elasticity by 29% and skin firmness by 13% according to research. After 4 weeks, we should have much firmer skin and a tighter neck.

YSL Forever Youth Liberator Y-SHAPE Creme

This is YSL’s first lifting effect cream which impregnates the skin with ‘millions of microdropplets’ and provides a cushion-like smooth surface over the skin. It has a light, airy, velvet-like formula that leaves a soft focused, dewy finish on the skin. It apparently forms an invisible support on the skin’s surface.

Y-FIRM technology re-plumps and boosts volume for firm bouncy skin. Apparently, after 1 application skin tonicity (not entirely sure what that means) increases by 25% and skin barrier function improves by 17%. After 4 weeks, lost volumes appear boosted and the Y shape is more defined.

Now, I have only used this for a couple of days so far, but it definitely delivers on the instant effects that it promises. Straight after I have used it my skin looks and feels tauter and smoother. A longer trial would of course be necessary to see the fuller benefits. I am going to continue with it for now and see how I go.

YSL Forever Youth Liberator Y-SHAPE launches nationwide on 26th December 2014, however it is being exclusively previewed at House of Fraser right now. The Concentrate is £65 and the Creme is £63.
