Having recently gone a whole lot blonder, I have started a mission to find a product that helps to neutralise the warm, brassy tones in my hair without drying out the strands. I have been testing out the Virtue Colorkick De-Brassing Shampoo. Here’s how I am getting on.
What is Virtue Colorkick De-Brassing Shampoo?

- 100% natural colourant to blend to brighten, tone, and gently neutralise brassiness on natural and colour-treated hair shades

- Includes other ingredients to nourish, detangle, hydrate, and also offer protection from UV rays and pollution
My Review of Virtue Colorkick De-Brassing Shampoo
Before I went blonde I had really rather limited knowledge on what was good and not so good in the hair toning world. So it has been really interesting trying out a range of different products to tackle the brassiness and yellow tones in my naturally very warm hair.
Quite a few of the ‘purple’ or ‘silver’ shampoos can be a little drying on the hair. They can work well to add a cool-toned pigment to neutralise the unwanted warmth, but they don’t actually add anything in to counteract the drying action of the neutralising pigments.
This is why I have been absolutely loving the Virtue Colorkick De-Brassing Shampoo because it really looks after my hair whilst it gently keeps the yellowness in check.

The first time I tried it was in the Nicola Clarke John Frieda salon back at the beginning of October, and it worked instantly to brighten. I have been using it regularly since then.
It isn’t those of those purple shampoos you have to worry about leaving on too long for fear of ending up with a blue rinse effect. In fact, it isn’t that scary purple colour because it uses natural violet and lavender botanical extracts instead of strong purple pigment.

You can use it once or twice a week (depending on how much you wash your hair) and this should be enough to keep that brassiness in check.
I use it once a week and leave it on for five minutes, and it leaves my hair soft, smooth, shiny and bright. If you are looking for a gentle debrassing product that delivers good results without compromising the condition of your hair, this is brilliant.
My other favourite Virtue products are the Recovery Shampoo* and the Recovery Conditioner*. They are absolutely amazing for really strengthening and smoothing the hair. My hair is pretty coarse, and this duo always leave it soft and shiny.
Stay tuned for news on more product in the hair category, because I am trying lots of new things to try and build up my blonde hair knowledge. If you have any recommendations for really effective products that keep blonde hair tones nice and cool, without comprising the condition or quality of the hair, please let me know. I am always around to chat in my DMs on Instagram.
Where to buy Virtue Colorkick De-Brassing Shampoo
This shampoo has been out of stock for the longest time, but it is finally back for £40. It’s not cheap but it really works and also strengthens hair at the same time.
