Vichy Mineral 89 is one of my favourite hydrators and is popular with many a skincare junkie. Here’s what you need to know.

I have had this booster in my kit for quite a few years now and continue to love it. If you are looking to boost hydration, this is something you can easily slot into your current regime.

What is Vichy Mineral 89?
This extra skincare step (and I love an extra step) is all about strengthening the skin’s barrier function and protecting it from beauty’s hot topic, pollution. It does this using a combination of Vichy Mineralizing Water and Hyaluronic Acid (and not a lot else) in a breakthrough formula.
The 89 of Mineral 89 refers to a groundbreaking 89% concentration of Mineralizing Water. Until Mineral 89 launched, the highest concentration achieved was 20%. It is an active, extremely potent ingredient, charged with 15 essential minerals, which makes it very hard to stabilise.

What is in it?
This is an incredibly minimalist formulation with a very concise ingredients list.

The Mineralizing Water itself has been proven to stimulate antioxidant defences and reinforce skin’s integrity specifically by stimulating regeneration and improving its barrier function.
Using expertise called Exposome, Vichy developed a breakthrough formula based on 89% Mineralizing Water. The Vichy water combines brilliantly with Hyaluronic Acid and together they have a complementary action to protect skin’s integrity and increase its strength. Together they intensely hydrate, smooth and plump the skin, and prepare for subsequent skincare steps, optimising serums and creams.
My Review

It is a beautifully light and fast absorbing formula. It feels like a massive drink of thirst quenching water as you apply it and then it sinks into the skin in a flash. Because it’s such a pure formulation, with no fragrance, colour or fillers, it is suitable for the most sensitive skin. Whatever you are already using, you simply use this first to upgrade and amp up your routine. Simple.
It sits in the skin booster category of skincare and Vichy’s version is a simple and affordable, yet super effective option and it works to repair, protect and prepare.
I love how simple the ingredients list is. If my skin is ever feeling reactive or sensitised, this is a perfect hydration serum because there is absolutely nothing in the formula that can irritate.
It sinks into clean skin beautifully, and sits very nicely under any other serums and creams you wish to layer on top. So if you are wanting to up your hydration levels, this is the perfect first step to add into any regime.
Vichy Mineral 89 is great for supporting the skin barrier and it was pretty much ahead of its time when it first launch. Pretty much the whole of the beauty industry talks about barrier building now, but Mineral 89 has been doing it for years.
