Living in Brighton, vegan and vegetarian restaurants are super easy to come across. What isn’t always so easy to find is vegan or vegetarian beauty. Although I’m not vegan or vegetarian myself I have several friends who are, so in the name of friendship I sacrificed myself in the search of products that can be enjoyed by all and in particular vegan lip products.
Vegan Lip Products – Too Faced Sweet Peach Lip Oils
One of my absolute favourite brands is Too Faced. To me their eyeshadow formula is most definitely in my top 3 along with Urban Decay and Tarte (both of which are also vegan friendly and cruelty free as well). I have been desperate to get my hands on some of the Sweet Peach collection and I was recently able to try two of the Too Faced creamy peach oil lip glosses.
These oils are available in eight shades and cost £16 each. They are whipped so have the shine of a gloss and provide hydration due to peach essence, coconut oil and vitamin E.
Peach Tease is described as an electric pink but it’s actually much softer looking than that description suggests. On my lips it came across as a nice neutral pink with a “my lips but better look”. I would say it’s probably better on lighter skin tones as it can come across as a little streaky, which was fine with my complexion but would be more noticeable on richer tones. Find it here
The second colour I tried was Tickle-Me-Peach which is a lovely coral/watermelon hybrid. This had a little more pigment so is great for all skin tones and I can see this being in my Summer staples as it’s going to look great when the sun finally comes out.
Both glosses made my lips feel super hydrated and were very comfortable to wear. They aren’t liquid lipsticks and as such I was perfectly happy to reapply after eating. The packaging is beyond cute and on top of the doe foot applicator lid there’s the cute cheeky peach that adorns all the packaging. I love the subtle peach scent as well and it’s not synthetic or sickly. Now all I need is the rest of the collection to go with it.

Vegan Lip Products – Pur Velvet Matte Liquid Lipsticks
Pur is a brand I’ve seen all over YouTube and read about on blogs but hadn’t actually tried any products myself. This changed with the Velvet Matte liquid lipsticks I was sent. Launching here in March 2016 priced also at £16 each there are 10 highly pigmented shades. The mousse like texture claims to provide long lasting flawless matte colour whilst being paraben free, gluten free and vegan.
Looking on the Pur website they come in a range of colours from pale neutrals to the dark vampy colours I received.
Addiction is the slightly lighter of the two. I would describe this as a deep brown/red terracotta. It’s a beautiful colour which I think will be universally suitable for all skin tones.
Dutty Wine is its deeper, more burgundy/blood red big sister. Dutty wine makes me think of Rihanna and the type of bold dark lipsticks she wears. For us pale girls it’s super vampy and sexy.
The formula was definitely creamy feeling. As with all dark liquid lipsticks I’ve tried you have to be careful with application or they can streak and become hard to fix. This formula was one of the better ones I’ve tried but a lip liner such as the Urban Decay Ozone made application a lot easier I found and just take your time. The wear time was fantastic though and lasted me a whole working day so that little extra time on application was worthwhile.
You can find PUR Velvet Matte Liquid Lipsticks here from March 2017.
Hopefully this has helped to show vegan lip products are out there. Now excuse me as I’m off to buy more Too Faced Sweet Peach products……
