Summer is here so that means, summer makeup trends, beachy hair and summery, floral fragrances. I’m all about the floral fragrances, especially for this time of the year. The latest fragrance release from Valeur Absolue Parfums fits the bill for your summer fragrance perfectly, albeit with a twist.
Valeur Absolue is not your average parfumerie. They combine a unique mixture of haute parfumerie concepts, techniques and essential oils with ideas of well-being and a truly unique concept among a fragrance market that for the most part can be quite generic.
Valeur Absolue fragrances are composed with essential oils and the bottles feature semi precious stones. In this case, beautiful garnet stones which is something I’ve never seen with any other fragrance. Other fragrances in their range features stones such as Peridot, Amazonite, Amethyst, Mother of Pearl and more!
Valeur Absolue Rouge Passion Parfum Notes:
Valeur Absolue Rogue Passion Eau de Parfum features notes of red Champaka, myrrh, tonka bean and woody notes along with ylang ylang and ginger essential oils. The inclusion of essential oils is such a unique and interesting concept to me. Apparently, the essential oils and other components of the fragrance actually stimulate the production of beta endorphins.

There are over twenty variations of endorphins produced in the body. They generally block pain and are also related to our feelings of pleasure. Hence the popular name for endorphins as a whole as the ‘happy hormones’.
Many things trigger the release of endorphins such as stress, exercise, pain and meditation, among others. Beta endorphins are hormones produced in the body in times of stress or pain as they are potent pain blockers, even more powerful than morphine. The inclusion of these ingredients within this frankly gorgeous fragrance is such a unique idea. It’s something I’ve never heard of before and a concept that is very intriguing to the academic in me.
Valeur Absolue Rouge Passion Parfum On The Skin
Besides the innovative ideas, this fragrance is just divine! The fragrance to me and on my skin is very creamy, subtly floral and powdery with a rich woody scent. I’m aware that my description makes it sound a little generic but it is genuinely one of the most off-piste, lovely and versatile fragrances I’ve tried. It’s unlike anything in my large fragrance collection which is impressive. The longevity on the skin is equally as impressive as for me, it lasts most of the day if not longer.
Initially I was very intrigued by the concept of essential oils as an ingredient as well as the inclusion of semi-precious stones. These make the fragrance seem very luxurious but there’s so much more to these beautifully designed and presented fragrances than that. I’ve been wearing the Rouge Passion EDP since I received it a couple of weeks ago and I cannot get enough of it; it’s such a comforting, familiar yet totally unique fragrance. I now want to try more of their wonderfully innovative and beautiful fragrances!
