We are definitely now in the time of year where I go crazy experimenting with different self tan products. I am a big fan of Trilogy’s natural products and got quite excited when I discovered they did a fake tan.

Importantly, even though the tan it gives you is fake, its ingredients are 100% natural. The Trilogy Self Tanning Instant Bronzing Gel uses a unique formulation of caramel (for the instant colour) and a natural self tanning ingredient called ECOCERT which develops to give you lasting tan.

It contains the light reflecting mineral, Mica, which creates an instant shimmer on the skin which is really rather pretty. It also contains Aloe Vera to hydrate and Vitamin E to fight free-radicals. So it is a pretty hard working tan!

The gel is really easy to apply (I used a mitt as always) and it glides evenly over the skin, and the light colour guide shows you where you are going. Personally I cannot cope with tan without a guide!

You are left with an instant, light tan, so if you are looking for something dark straight off, then this isn’t for you.

The colour does develop really nicely though. Still not dark, but a lovely natural, warm looking tan that lasts very very well and fades completely evenly. I have definitely been impressed by it’s staying power and natural look.

One word of warning for application. When I first applied it, I think I went slightly heavy in some areas and the gel dried a little ‘crispily’ on my skin. However, it buffed off easily with my hand and caused no problems with the finish.

I will definitely be using this again for a lovely natural look and I think it would be amazing to enhance a natural tan in a natural way! In general I do prefer a mousse fake tan but this is fab for a change and perfect for people that like their products natural.

The Trilogy Self Tanning Instant Bronzing Gel costs £17.50 and is available from, Boots, Lovelula, com, and selected John Lewis stores.
