This is super exciting – a brand new version of Black Orchid! Check out the Tom Ford New Black Orchid Parfum. I have all the details here.
The original Black Orchid was released in 2006 and it became a cult classic. I think this new version will definitely earn itself a new classic status.
What is different about Tom Ford New Black Orchid Parfum?
This new Black Orchid has been created to be a an even bigger celebration of what Tom Ford describe as narcotic ylang-ylang. This is ylang-ylang dipped in rum with the addition black plum. The key notes are:
- Black truffle
- Ylang ylang
- Black orchid
- Black plum
- Rum absolute
It promises to be the most potent version of black orchid ever made and has been created for Black Orchid devotees and also those who’ve never had the pleasure of trying it.
I love a bit of Black Orchid. It’s a big fragance, that lasts and lasts. This new version definitely still delivers both of those things but this one leans more towards gourmande. The black plum and rum notes really enhance the scent in terms of how sexy it is, which is really saying something because the original Black Orchid is super sexy.
From the first spritz you get a beautiful Ylang Ylang note with a boozy rum cloud. I find it instantly addictive.
I absolutely love this gragrance. It is very similar to the original but I think the key difference is that it is markedly less feminine in that’s it feels less floral and sweet. It’s such a full fragrance from start to finish and but I find it more subtle than the Eau de Parfum, which really works for me because it makes it much more versatile. The Parfum is really very wearable in a way that the original potentially isn’t.
This new launch also reminds me a little of Velvet Orchid with its rum notes. It has Black Orchid’s signature earthiness thanks to a good dose of patchouli and which gives it such a super sexy finish on the skin.
Finally, being a major magpie and a fan of all things shiny and metallic, I love the bottle. The classic design has been wrapped in golden goodness from top to bottom and it looks absolutely stunning.
