This is so exciting because I am a big fan of the original Mandarino di Amalfi from Tom Ford for summer and this new Private Blend incarnation is a sparkling and fresh take on it. I love it. Here’s the low down on the gorgeous Tom Ford Mandarino Di Amalfi Acqua which comes on the most stunning frosted bottle.
Described as effervescent, textured and luminous, Mandarino Di Amalfi Acqua is a “sparkling expression of the Italian Coastal paradise from a new point of view”. I have to say, I am really enjoying this new point of view. It’s lighter than the original yet still covers you in veil of luxe, bright citrus fruit tones with soft neroli and basil and creamy florals.
Tom Ford Mandarino Di Amalfi Acqua Notes
“A serene perspective of the Amalfi cliffsides, with their citrus fruits and calm idyll, captures the bright tranquility. At day’s close, the air, scented with mint, thyme and wildflowers, mingles with a warm breeze of night-blooming flowers.”
- Top notes – Tarragon, spearmint, blackcurrant bud, Lemon sfumatrice (artisanal, pressed lemon oil of superior integrity), mandarin, bergamot, grapefruit, neroli, basil
- Heart notes – black pepper, orange oil, orange flower, clary sage, jasmine, Shiso leaf
- Base notes – vetiver, amber, labdanum, musk and civet
It’s the perfect fragrance for warm summer’s days and nights. The blend of citrus and basil conjure up the limoncello cocktail you’d drink in the serenity of sun-warmed evening breeze. One smell transports you to a place of paradise.
The jasmine floral notes have a beautiful creaminess to them that perfectly balance the fresh citrus and the mintiness of the shiso leaf give it a bright twist. I love the earthy yet radiant vetiver in the base which, combined with soft amber and civet, makes the fragrance warm, skin-like and sensual in the dry down. Love it.
Strangely, I find this more long-lasting on my skin than the original, which makes me really happy. It may be lighter, but it clings to my skin for longer.
The Tom Ford Mandarino Di Amalfi Acqua bottle is just beautiful in sky-blue and gold. It is a frosted version of Mandarino di Amalfi’s bottle and instead of the gold plaque, it has a paler blue plaque with gold lettering. It shares the same Tom Ford embossed gold plaque on the lid. It is even more beautiful than the original.
