The Inkey list has been on my radar for a while, but it has taken me quite some time to get around to trying any of the products. As a big cleansing balm fan, I loved the sound of the Inkey List Oat Cleansing Balm, and so have been testing it out. Here’s how I got on.

How to use The Inkey List Oat Cleansing Balm

I like to use this as the first cleanse in the evening to remove makeup and SPF, although it’s also lovely on its own in the morning if my skin is feeling a little dry.

I just massage a smallish blob over my dry skin for a couple of minutes then add water to emulsify. It turns into a light milk that lifts away impurities and you can rinse it off or remove it with a warm flannel. I prefer to use a wash cloth as I think this better ensures there’s no residue left on the skin.

You can leave it there, or do your second cleanse if that is your preference.

As I said earlier, you can also leave it for 10 minutes before removing to give your skin a moisture boost.

The Inkey List Oat Cleansing Balm is a lovely, effective cleanser and you will get on well with it if you like rich, thick textures.

It has a thick oil melting texture that glides over the skin effortlessly and break down makeup and SPF with ease. I can feel the slightest hint of texture in the product, but it isn’t abrasive and I find it fine for use on my eyes.

The best way remove it is with a warm wet flannel, otherwise it can leave some residue, especially around the eyes. Having said that, I am not averse to that feeling of moisturisation left behind my some cleansers and this one leaves my skin feeling comfortable and supple.

This is an ideal first cleanse as it does all the heavy duty makeup removal quickly and easily.

In conversations on my Instagram, some have told me that it can be quite difficult to squeeze out of the tube. I haven’t experience this and I think that’s probably because it is summer right now and everything is a lot warmer. It most likely solidifies more in cooler climates.

I’d recommend giving it a bit of a shake before squeezing out in warmer climates as it can separate a little.

Another great, super affordable cleanser the one from The Ordinary. Read my The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser Review.
