Having fallen totally in love with Brazilian Bum Bum Cream (I’m completely addicted!), I just had to try the lip balm from the same range. Here’s a look at the Sol De Janeiro Brazilian Kiss Cupuacu Lip Butter. Does it live up to my beloved Bum Bum Cream?!

Well the short answer to that question is no, I don’t love it as much as the Bum Bum Cream. To put it into context, I am utterly obsessed with Bum Bum Cream. I love the smell, the luxurious texture and the way it sinks in and feels light like no other rich body cream. It is just perfection. And the name makes me love it even more!

Although the lip balm is a pretty nice product, for me it isn’t Bum Bum cream good, and that’s what I was hoping for. But let me just give you the details first.

Sol De Janeiro Brazilian Kiss Cupuacu Lip Butter Features

  • Lip butter infused with nourishing cupuaçu, açaí, and coconut oil
  • Leaves lips soft with a dewy sheen
  • Designed to intensify your natural lip colour
  • Traced with a Brazilian caramel scent

Now my first thought about this is that the application is a little clumsy owing to the size of the bullet which is particularly wide for a lip balm. Also, the end of the balm is  slightly dipped which doesn’t make it any easier to apply. That said, the chunky packaging does feel good in the hand and the sweet smell is really good.

Unfortunately, the Brazilian caramel fragrance of the product doesn’t really translate to the taste which ends up being slightly chemical. It’s a shame because I imagined it being really sweet and tasty. After a while you don’t notice the taste and it works well under lip colour because it isn’t glossy or shiny and just leaves a soft sheen on the lips. I don’t find that it sinks in as well as some of my other lip balms, however, which is a little bit disappointing.

Overall, it’s a nice balm but I definitely don’t feel the love that I have for the Brazilian Bum Bum Cream which is pricey but totally worth it in my opinion. I guess you can’t win them all.

Sol De Janeiro Brazilian Kiss Cupuacu Lip Butter is £15 for 6.2g and available at these links below:

I am going to try the Shower Get-Cream next from this brand which I have high hopes for. Stayed tuned for a review of that soon.
