Soap & Glory have a sneaky way of releasing new products by stealth – you have to watch the shelves until suddenly they appear. You then spend ten minutes working out if it’s a new product or a packaging redesign (and I’m always delighted when I accidentally buy those), but if it’s not, you know you’re potentially in for a treat. Here’s a look at Soap and Glory SPEED PLUMP All-day Super Moisture Marvel & SPEED PLUMP Overnight Miracle Moisture Mousse.
I’ll admit I’m a marketing slut and a complete sucker for Soap & Glory’s brand of whimsical prose promising ingredients such as Youthflake (eh?) and light activated Luminofix-6 (where would we be without that), but it does of course make you wonder if any of this whimsy actually creates a good product. The good news is Soap & Glory often deliver the goods and have become a reliable bathroom staple.
So, having tracked down a couple of new goodies let’s take a look at them. Perfect for amping up hydration for winter, SPEED PLUMP All-day Super Moisture Marvel (£13) is for day time while SPEED PLUMP Overnight Miracle Moisture Mousse (£14) is, well, overnight.
Let’s start in the day. The cream is light, fluid and soaks in fast – you can see the texture on the back of my hand below.
Like a lot of Soap & Glory creams, it is scented with peaches which can be a minor annoyance if you’re not into fruit smells. It fades fast though and is a nice clean cream that does seem to live up to its promise – plumping up the skin with moisture. It’s a good prepper for make-up too. However the constant complaint with day creams is why they should exist without an SPF included since you just need to layer another name on top.
The night time mousse is a different kettle of fish. Light and fluffy, the bottle blurb talks about bubble-boost technology (of course), but apart from a few bubbles forming on the surface of the cream, its hard to discern what this actually means to the creams performance. Perhaps you can see the bubbles slightly on the surface of the cream below.
In fact the lightness of the mousse makes it difficult to equate with deep penetrating moisture. It performs solidly, but doesn’t seem to make the difference that some heavier creams do, such as Soap & Glory’s own Beauty Sleep Accelerator cream, a must have for long haul flights.
So a secret cracker and a so-so – still impressed by what Soap & Glory bring to our shelves and for such a cost-effective price.
