A 3 in1 Beauty Smart Water to cleanse, hydrate and prime skin:

  • 3-in-1 formula
  • Aims to leave skin fresh, clean and hydrated
  • Gently removes light makeup, dead skin cells, excess sebum and dirt from the skin’s surface
  • Provides skin with moisture that lasts for up to 12 hours
  • Helps to absorb sebum to allow makeup to stay on longer
  • Suitable for all skin types

Key Ingredients

The formula is uses an ingredient called Amazake which is a sweet, low-alcoholic Japanese nutrition drink made from fermented rice. Amazake is produced using bacteria and a fermentation process that brings out the natural sweetness of the rice, breaks down its nutrients, and allows the body to absorb them more efficiently. Apparently in Japan they call it Super Drink because it is so good for you.

The fermented complexes within the Beauty Smart Water promise to clean skin and encourage a brighter-looking, hydrated complexion.

Shiseido say that this can be used in three ways, make sure you shake it up first:

  1. Cleanse : Gently removes light makeup, dead skin cells, excess sebum and dirt from the skin’s surface while moisturising
  2. Hydrate: Imbues skin with moisture that lasts for up to 12 hours, helping to make it feel smoother
  3. Prime: Help to absorb sebum to allow makeup to stay on longer and provide the perfect finish

My Review

So I have given the new Shiseido WASO Beauty Smart Water a whirl and for me, this makes a nice morning cleanse. It has light hydrating properties but it’s not enough hydration for my skin and I feel like I could only really use it as a light cleanse and first step in my morning skincare routine.

I love a complicated routine, so in all fairness, this probably isn’t designed for me! I think it would be great for oily skins that need hydration but not anything super heavy or moisturising, especially with its sebum absorbing capability.

I’m yet to try this as a primer, but I aim to give it a go, simply pressing it into the t-zone on top of my skincare and see how it goes. Again, I’m slightly concerned that it make not be hydrating enough for my skin but I’ll let you know.
