If you are looking for a really sophisticated, elegant illuminator, I have found it. Check the genius Shiseido Synchro Skin Illuminator in Rose Gold. I have photos, swatches and everything you need to know here.

What I absolutely love about this is that, unlike many illuminators or liquid highlighters, the formula has the incredible knack of perfecting the skin whilst making it glow. I have found that it’s kind on pores, smooths lines and basically makes my skin look better. This is in spite of the fact that it contains the prettiest soft sparkle and shimmer that gently twinkles when the light hits it.

Shiseido Synchro Skin Illuminator – How To Use
So you can use this tube of glow in a few different ways. It can go all over the face underneath foundation like a primer to add a lit from within glow to the skin. I find this works really well because although the formula does contain shimmer, it doesn’t emphasise pores or imperfections and actually has a very smoothing effect.

You can also mix it with moisturiser, SPF or foundation for all over glow. I find it actually enhances the coverage of foundation thanks to its blurring, smoothing action.
Finally you can use this on top of makeup, or bare skin, to highlight the high points of the face for a skin perfecting glow with soft shimmer that isn’t overbearing. I simply tap it on to my cheekbones, using a little or a lot, depending on what I want. Also, it is great applied straight onto bare lids as it is very smoothing and gives a very natural looking soft shimmer, for a no makeup look. Lovely!
Shiseido Synchro Skin Illuminator Rose Gold Swatch
There are two shades in the Synchro Skin Illuminator. Pure Gold has a yellow undertones and Rose Gold, which I have, has pink undertones.

If you are looking for a comparison to the newly released NARS Super Radiant Booster, featured in my latest YouTube video, here are my thoughts. Both products can be used in similar ways – either mixed in, used alone, or as highlighter – however, they have a different feel on the skin.

The Shiseido product has a smoother application and blends on to the skin more effortlessly. The NARS contains squalane which you can feel as you spread it over the skin. It’s one of those ingredients that works to lock in moisture by sitting on top of the skin, so it makes it act differently to the Synchro Skin lluminator. If you have drier skin, you could possibly prefer the Super Radiant Booster for this reason.
Here they are next to each other, Shiseido on the left and NARS on the right:

The NARS has a more metallic finish, which you can probably see. They have a similar rose gold tone, however, Shiseido is peachier and NARS is pinkier, in my opinion.
