What is Shiseido Bio-Performance Skin Filler Serums?

If you have never tried any Shiseido skincare products, you are seriously missing out. Their research and development is second to none and they have consistently led the way with new technologies and innovation, particularly in the field of Hyaluronic Acid.

The new Shiseido Bio-Performance Skin Filler Serums are a duo of serums that work hand in hand to visibly volumise the skin and deliver the immediate results of aesthetic procedures. They can be used as an alternative to fillers, and also can be used alongside and in between treatments.

The night serum is called the Infill Serum and this one contains large and volumising molecules of Hyaluronic Acid, which have been compacted so that they can penetrate the skin.

The day serum is called the Full Expansion Serum and this one works to re-expand the compacted Hyaluronic Acid so that it returns to its original size within the skin to visibly plump and volumise.

My Review of the Shiseido Bio-Performance Skin Filler Serums

I first discovered this duo of serums last year when Shiseido had their pop up store in Covent Garden. When I was told about this amazing technology, my mind was blown!

We talk about the different sizes of Hyaluronic Acid all the time in skincare. Large molecules (high molecular weight) are all about surface hydration because those molecules are too big to sink deep into the skin. Then there is low-molecular weight HA. These are small molecules that can penetrate the skin deeply because they are small, however, they lack the full volumising potential of the larger molecules because they bind less water.

Larger HA molecules, despite being the best at binding water and offering hydration, cannot penetrate into the skin.  Smaller HA molecules, which bind less water than larger HA molecules, can penetrate deeper into the skin.

So the little molecules go deep and the big molecules stay on top. That’s the way it has always been. For this reason topical Hyaluronic Acid will never be as effective as an injectable Hyaluronic Acid filler for replacing lost volume.

But what if you could make a big molecule with all that physically big volumising power, go down deep into the skin and plump in a big molecule way – so big plumping but deep down? Well Shiseido’s skin scientists have found a way to do that and it blows my mind.

For the first time ever, with MolecuShift technology, Shiseido have found a way to get large molecules of Hyaluronic Acid into the skin without having to inject it.

The Shiseido Bio-Performance Skin Filler Serums themselves are amazing. The textures are so luxurious and each serum has unique properties.

The night serum, which is the one you need to start with, has the silkiest, most hydrating texture. I absolutely love it. This is the one that contains the compacted large HA molecules. It sinks into the skin beautifully and feels so comfortable. You only need a small pump as it has a lovely runny texture that spreads over the skin so effortlessly.

The day serum is also gorgeous. This one has a creamier texture, and again, a little goes a long way. A few hours after I have applied the day serum, my skin is visibly plumper and more juicy looking.

The duo of serums definitely gives a very long lasting volumising effect and I absolutely love the way my skin looks when I use these. The results are beyond just simple hydration, like every other HA serum. These deliver volume to the skin and it’s so impressive.
