Don’t get me wrong, I adore summer. BBQs, picnics, coats long forgotten at the back of wardrobes; summer rocks. However, summer also means the world sees my feet. Despite slathering them in creams regularly all year round, they never seem to deliver my dream of instagram-worthy toes. The days are already getting longer, and my summer feet preparation needs to start again. This was the perfect opportunity to put the Scholl Velvet Smooth Electronic Nail care set to the test.

The electronic nail file itself comes with 3 attachments, all helpfully labelled with their corresponding number. The first step is to file your nails, using attachment no.1, and I immediately felt a benefit compared to using a manual file. I’d struggle to reach my toes to file them and I’d usually cut them. Filing is a safer option, as you can’t accidentally cut them too short. Ever done that? It really hurts.

Steps 2 and 3 are buff and shine. The attachments are easy to exchange, and the shine head definitely gave my nails a glossy wet-look. The process is finished with the gorgeously silky Nail Care Oil. I’m such a fan of oils; they sink into the skin so fast, and this oil was lovely. Definitely something I’ll be reaching for again.

It could be that my toe nails are simply a little too small, or perhaps my nails weren’t in too bad shape before I started, but I’m not sure the effort was worth it. I of course took before and after pictures, but the difference was too slight to share. Do I think it’d give your finger nails a nice shine if you’re into the natural look? Definitely, and it is designed to be used on both toes and fingers. As someone who won’t use it on my fingers do I think my toe nails need a whole device dedicated to their shaping and shining needs? I’m not so sure…
