When I’m feeling creative, when I’m working or if I’m just doing something simple around the house like cooking, I’m likely using my hands. They’re involved in so many day to day activities, and constantly being washed. So, it’s important that we look after them and give them the attention that they so deserve. Part of that caring should involve a natural hand cream, and today I’ll be looking at Rodin Olio Lusso Jasmine & Neroli Luxury Hand & Body Crema from luxury brand Rodin.

Rodin are a New York based company run by namesake Linda Rodin. She began her career in the 70s as a stylist, dressing iconic women such as Madonna, Halle Berry, Gisele Bundchen and Adriana Lima over the years.

Linda has always believed in avoiding complexity. Her mantra throughout her career has been “There is Beauty in Simplicity” a quote I strongly agree with! She has always leant towards simple products that act quickly. She began experimenting with essential oils in her bathroom for nearly two years in the noughties, until the original Rodin dream elixir was born in 2007 inside a single coffee cup. Available at first in just a select few shops, it’s quickly gained an international cult following.

Linda soon starting making more products. By 2013 her range had grown to include products such as lip balms, body and hand creams, perfumes and scented candles. All of these contain simple formulas and the essential oils she’s become famous for.

Today Rodin are an Estee Lauder company with Linda Rodin still overseeing the creation of products. In this review I’ll be looking at the Rodin Olio Lusso Jasmine & Neroli Luxury Hand & Body Crema.

The product’s scent is Olio Lusso, which is Rodin’s signature scent. It’s warm with hints of jasmine, and to me smells like fresh linen. Light, natural and simple, it represents Rodin’s values perfectly.

The product itself contains a natural blend of shea butter, argan oils, macadamia, aloe and jojoba. These are great for moisturising and healing your skin. I found the product’s consistency to be quite thick like a smooth paste. This means it takes a bit of effort to work it into your skin. It feels very luxurious on my skin and of course smells fantastic. Because it’s quite thick it initially leaves a thin coating on your skin that disappears shortly after. However, I did find that this made my hands sweat a little in warm weather, but that may just be me. I would encourage you to try it for yourself.

The products packaging is simple and clean. However, after a few trips out in my handbag it was easily battered, which took the edge off the luxurious look and feel. Ultimately didn’t affect my love of it too much. At £52 for 100ml this is truly a luxury class of product, however it will last a long time, even with liberal use.
