I love candles, I find them to be relaxing, they make the house smell lovely and there’s something about having them burning that makes me feel happy. I have so many that I no longer get to burn as I find that they either have no throw to the scent, or they tunnel if you only burn them for a small amount of time.
Throw is when the candle scent penetrates the room/ house, rather than what you can smell when you sniff the candle itself. A good throw is very important! Tunnelling occurs when you don’t allow the candle wax to melt all the way across before extinguishing. A candle that has tunnelled can occasionally be rescued but it involves a tinfoil collar and a lot of effort, otherwise the candle will only ever burn across to the tunnelled point, never the edges.

ROAM by 42 Pressed candles intrigued me when I saw them. The packaging is very clean and simple, looking classy not garish, They are made of 100% natural soy wax and they have a pure cotton wick. They weigh 200gms and will burn for approx. 45 hours and happily they are environmentally friendly too.
There are six different fragrances, each named after a city in the world and featuring custom blended scents. The cities/scents available are:
- London– Lavandin, Black Pepper, Oak Moss, Labdanum
- Paris– Muguet, Amber, Vanilla, Oak Moss
- New York– Amber, Birch, Mineral, Patchouli
- San Francisco– Sage, Cedar, Bergamot, Vetiver
- Chicago– Cucumber, Basil, Wet Stone, Moss
- Charleston– Jasmine, Tea Olive, Magnolia, Salt
I was sent the ROAM by 42 Pressed Charleston Candle to try. Unfortunately, this was probably the scent I least wanted to try when I read the description as I’m not a fan of Jasmine scented things at all! The packaging was lovely though; it comes with a screw top lid rather than something that pops off. This was always something I disliked about my previous candle brand as you could often drop the candle when taking the lid off.

Despite my hesitation, the smell surprised me, it was nicely blended so I wasn’t overwhelmed by the Jasmine.
The throw from this candle is great! We live in a bungalow and the smell penetrated each room, but in a good way. There is nothing overpowering about it but the smell reached all the rooms. My husband (who has no nose for these things) mentioned how he could smell something nice in the kitchen, at the other end of the house to where I was burning the candle.

In terms of burning, this candle has burnt evenly, it has also burnt all the way to the edges. This is a great plus for me. The reason most of my candles remain unburnt in drawers is because I don’t have the time now to allow the candle to burn for a minimum of 4-5 hours to get it to burn across. This amount of burn time is perfect though as I can light it when I get in from work and know it will be evenly burnt before bed.
I am very pleased with this candle. The scent and burn rate are great and the packaging looks good too. They also do matching art prints for your wall, depicting maps of each city featured which is a nice touch, especially if you’re into matching décor.
