I’ve been obsessed with bareMinerals for about 8 years now so any time I get the opportunity to try a new mineral make up, or even a new brand, I can’t resist. I hadn’t heard of proto-col before, but the fact that’s it’s mineral and baked meant I had to try the proto-col baked mineral makeup.

I was sent the proto-col Baked Mineral Colour Correct, the Baked Mineral Shimmer and the Baked Mineral Foundation to try. All come packaged in a beautiful, domed, silver compact.

Suffering from Acne Rosacea I was really looking forward to trying the mineral colour correct shown above. It aims to help achieve an all over even skin tone and to be the perfect base for foundation. The colder weather can play havoc with problematic skin and the four finely milled, pastel minerals each have a specific purpose:

  • Pink – to correct dull sallow skin
  • Lilac to balance yellow tones
  • Yellow to balance out pinky tones and to conceal under eye circles and generally brighten the skin
  • Green to counteract redness including broken veins and blotchiness

The powder really is finely milled and it did a good job of covering some of my redness. Once I’d used my bareMinerals foundation over the top I had a lovely, even skin tone. Find it to order here

The baked mineral foundation claims to adapt to skin tones whilst also working harmoniously with sensitive skin. Mica, a mineral, provides light reflecting pigments. It’s available in 3 different shades. Unfortunately I couldn’t use the mineral foundation as the shade was too dark for me. My best friend benefited as she has a darker skin tone than me.  She’s also a bareMinerals fan and reported back that this performed very similarly to the solid foundations she’s used to. She was very impressed with the coverage and performance on the skin. Find it here

proto-col Baked Mineral Shimmer

Baked mineral shimmer is available in 4 different shades. These range from pink to a deeper bronze and can be used on cheekbones, eyes and lips. Mica again provides shimmer so this isn’t suitable for matte contouring. I was sent the shade Sienna Splash which, although being the darkest of the four so less suitable for my pale skin, is actually the most versatile. The segments range from light gold to a deep copper, making it perfect for travel as it’s a lovely, multi-tasking product. Find it here

I was very impressed with the quality of the products I was able to use and I’d like to try the foundation in the correct shade for me as my friend raved about it. Find the whole proto-col Baked Mineral Range here
