Well this is a very exciting new launch from Pixi. There’s a whole series of Pro Palettes – Pixi Book of Beauty palettes and the one I got instantly excited about was the Pixi Book of Beauty Contour Creator. Contouring can get really boring, but if I know Pixi, this will be done perfectly. I also have the Book of Beauty Minimal Makeup, and a Book of Beauty Touch of Blush. I went for straight for Contour Creator because Amanda Bell, Pixi’s global makeup artist is one of the best ‘contourers’ I know and she is all about beautiful skin.

So inside this book are 6 face colours designed to deliver natural looking definition to your features. There are 3 shades for brightening and highlighting, and 3 shades for contouring and bronzing. Each powder is micro-milled for super-silkiness.

Now I am not going to lie – I didn’t really have a fixed idea about how to use all these shades. In fact I was a tiny bit confused by it but I thought I would have a play any way. Basically, I absolutely love this palette!

After:

I started off by using the lightest powder across my cheekbones. It gives a very natural looking highlight. Then I use the darkest shade (bottom right) just in the hollows of my cheeks, under the jawline and a little on the temples to contour. Next I used the middle bronze shade, just as a bronzer above the contour and more over my cheekbones.

The box then said to use the blending shade to ensure there weren’t harsh lines. I wasn’t entirely sure which that one was so I used a mix of the bottom left and top right to buff out any obvious contouring and it really seemed to work. I also used the middle left shade to lightly set the concealer under my eyes. No idea if that was the right thing to do but I am pretty happy with the results!
I think I will play a bit more and see what else this baby can do. Love it!!
Pixi Book of Beauty Contour Creator is £24 and available at Marks & Spencers.
