I love Lactic Acid when it comes to very gentle exfoliation and hydration boosting, so I couldn’t wait to give the new Pestle and Mortar NMF Lactic Acid Toner a whirl. Here’s what you need to know.

I had high hope for this new toner because I love Pestle and Mortar’s cleansing products. They do a really good double cleanse product I reviewed a while.

What is Pestle and Mortar NMF?

  • Created in response to the need for a transformative toner that is gentle to skin

  • Active ingredients are supported with skin-brightening natural extracts Indian Gooseberry and Black Tea
  • Delivers hydration, radiance and glow
  • Promises not to cause irritation
  • Suitable for all skin types

What is the Natural Moisturising Factor?

NMF is made by the skin naturally and it works to keep the skin hydrated and protected – it is the skin’s built in moisturisation system. As we age, like most other things (unfortunately), the level of NMF in the skin decreases.

Pestle and Mortar NMF Lactic Acid Toner has been formulated to improve the skin’s natural moisture factor. It does this with a lab-blended version of the Natural Moisturising Factor, rich in multiple amino acids, fatty acids, triglycerides, urea, ceramides, phospholipids, glycerin, saccharides, sodium PCA, hyaluronic acid and more, all of which are naturally present in the skin.

Also, Lactic Acid, a super gentle AHA suitable for even sensitive skin, helps to remove dead skin cells and also boost the skin’s Natural Moisturising Factor.

With Vitamin C-rich Indian Gooseberry Extract and Black Tea, skin is also brightened and uneven skin tone is targeted.

My Review of Pestle and Mortar NMF Lactic Acid Toner

I am finding this to be a really gorgeous toner and have been using it swept over my skin on a re-useable cotton pad* in the evening after cleansing for a gentle exfoliation.

It feels mild and soothing on the skin, and brings immediate comfort. It leaves my skin super smooth and really helps with any texture or patchiness, definitely boosting the hydrated feel of skin. It’s a great prep for serums, oils and creams.

I haven’t been using it long enough to comment on how it works on pigmentation, but the Indian Gooseberry Extract is high in Vitamin C, so the potential for that is good. I am really liking it so far.
