Olay Regenerist Big British Beauty Poll 2012 – The Results!
.
Here is the beauty truth according to British women for 2012!

The highlights!
  • Women are spending 15% less on beauty in 2012 vs. 2010
  • Anti-ageing skincare is the last beauty item women are prepared to sacrifice in order to save money!
  • 79% of women won’t spend more than £30 on an anti-ageing cream even if it works!
Interesting! There was a time when we’d chuck a tonne of cash at anything with the word miracle plastered all over it. Looks like we are wising up!
Beauty Priorities?
It was interesting to see which beauty fix would be sacrificed first in tough times. It seems the body is last on our list of priorities, with the smallest percentage of us willing to sacrifice our anti-ageing skincare. Wrinkles come first!
Beauty Budget?
That said however, gone are the days of the £100 face cream. In 2012 we definitely want more results for less and in general, £30 is the most we want to spend on a little pot of youthful wonder backed up by solid clinical trials. This fits in very well with the Olay Regenerist philosophy.
Quick Fix?
And in terms of a quick anti-ageing fix, the majority of us voted for a new hair cut and colour with botox coming in last second to  last place with just 5% of the vote. Right at the bottom was the fake tan fix with only 1%. Times are a-changing!!
Makeup We Can’t Live Without?
Here’s the lowdown on makeup! The desert island item? 35% said mascara, 31% said foundation and 11% said lipstick. Right at the bottom was nail polish with just 2.8%. But let’s face it, we don’t really have to choose!!
The Ultimate Glamour Statement?
Where is real British Glamour at? It is all about the skin. 29% said polished, flawless skin was the ultimate glamour statement, followed by smoky eyes at 19%. The statement lip gained 6.4% of the votes so it seems we are keeping it subtle and real.
And lastly 2012’s Beauty Icon?
Yes you guessed it! It’s Kate Middleton of course!

Olay Regenerist Big British Beauty Poll 2012
Back in November 2010, Olay polled over 20,000 women across the UK for its first Big British Beauty Poll to find out just what got the nation’s female beauty pulses racing. I did that poll myself not long after I started this blog and I remember the results. They were quite a revelation!
Keep reading to find out how you can enter and win amazing prizes.
The results showed that our obsession with invasive beauty procedures was fading and that we were looking for effective, at-home beauty solutions to tackle our skin care concerns. Audrey Hepburn was named the nation’s favourite beauty icon of all time. Ah! Love Audrey!!
This year, Olay is celebrating 60 years of being at the forefront of global skincare and gaining the accolade of being named the world’s biggest skincare brand. Check out these examples of Olay’s original packaging back in the day. Remember those? Really quite iconic in it’s own right.
