I haven’t tried anything from MUA for forever. It’s one of those crazily affordable Superdrug brands that churn out tonnes of products and quite a few dupes and lots of it just washes over my head. Recently however, I was sent over a few products from their new complexion range and something made me try it. Here’s a look at the MUA Skin Define Matte Perfect Foundation.

So basically I pumped a little of this on to my hand as I was nosing through the package and there was something about the texture that I really liked – creamy with lots of coverage – and so I decided to give it a go. I liked it straight away.

Although this is a matte foundation, I don’t actually find it to be that matte. I think it gives the skin a lovely luminous, perfected finish.

There are 6 shades in total and I have 3 of them to show you – Natual Ivory, Ivory Flush and Beige:

I found Ivory Flush to be the best match for my skin.

The MUA Skin Define Matte Perfect Foundation feels really nourishing on the skin, however, it isn’t overly light and you can feel it. It actually claims to include vitamins A, E & jojoba, although I am not sure how effective those ingredients will be as this is a £4 foundation. I can’t imagine that it contains particularly potent skincare ingredients.

And while I am on the ingredients, I did have a bit of a ponder over what a £4 foundation contains. So this is it:

Aqua, Paraffinum Liquidum, Titanium Dioxide, Propylene Glycol, Talc, Glycerin, Cyclomethicone, Mica, PEG-30 Dipolyhydroxystearate, Isopropyl Myristate, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Hydrogenated Jojoba oil, Ceresin, Sythetic Beeswax, Magnesium Stearate, MAGNESIUM ALUMINUM SILICATE, MAGNESIUM SULFATE, XANTHAN GUM, TOCOPHERYL ACETATE, RETINYL PALMITATE, DIAZOLIDINYL UREA, METHYLPARABEN, PROPYLPARABEN, BHT, CI 77891, CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499

There are a few not so great things in there but, to be fair, it isn’t that different to a typical Rimmel foundation ingredients list, in fact it is quite a bit shorter. And what do you expect for £4?!

Anyway, I really like this. It isn’t at all flat on my skin and gives my complexion a radiant flawlessness. Shine does break through after a few hours but there is also a primer in the range that could potentially help with that. By the end of the day, I am ready to take it off my skin, but I feel that way about a lot of makeup.

If you’re on a budget or fancy trying something new without parting with much cash, then the MUA Skin Define Matte Perfect Foundation is worth a go for sure. Find it HERE.
