MUA LUXE Set & Reflect Finishing Kit

For a few years now MUA Makeup Academy have been proving their reputation for providing great quality make up products at affordable prices. Colour innovation and fun are at the heart of every product. They work hard to bring up to date looks to store at everyday prices. Because of the affordability it’s easy to try those high fashion, but not necessarily everyday looks, without breaking the bank. And all of this is done without any animal testing. Recently, I was sent the new MUA Luxe Set & Reflect Finishing Kit to try.

MUA LUXE is the luxurious big sister of the MUA brands, adding an extra air of quality and luxury but still at prices that are cheaper than most high street make up brands’ prices. I’ve personally purchased several products from the LUXE range and have a wish list of several others. One of my current favourites is my Strobe and Glow in Pink Lustre and I tend to use this most days.

The LUXE range includes a lot of highlighting products but one of its newest is the Set & Reflect Finishing Kit. The dual layered compact has a rather large mirror in the lid, always handy. And the top layer comprises a white and gold speckled highlighting powder. The texture is quite creamy for a powder and you can really feel this if you rub some between your fingertips. The gold is a true gold and doesn’t lean too much towards the yellow spectrum. Unfortunately the British weather was against me when taking photos so I’ve tried my best to capture the swatches as accurately as possible.

The second layer contains a finishing powder which is quite white in the compact and when you swatch but actually blends very nicely on the skin. For me a finishing powder is essential. My skin is combination to dry so although my cheeks get dry my T-Zone gets very oily and so foundation, especially liquid breaks down very quickly. My all time favourite is BareMinerals Mineral Veil but it’s not great to take out due to its loose formulation.

For nights out this duo is fantastic as it has a mirror, highlighter and powder. My only suggestion to improve it would be a brush  or a sponge for touch ups, but I’d rather pay less and take my own brush as I have tons. Will this be accompanying me on my next night out?
