The MakeUp Eraser promises to remove all make-up, without any products; just with water. 10 million have been sold worldwide, and despite not understanding the science when I first gave it a go, I was excited to put it to the test!
It promises it is “designed to remove even the toughest makeup including waterproof mascara and eyeliner, HD makeup and lipstick with water alone” and that “the microfibre MakeUp Eraser is machine washable, lasts more the 1,000 washes and will save you £100s in other products.” I wear a lot of make-up every day, so I was the perfect candidate to give the Make Up Eraser a run for its money.
My usual end-of-day routine is to hop in the shower, with a full face of make-up. On returning to the bedroom I then use micellar water to cleanse and clean my face, before applying my night cream. This means I’m always walking around the house in a towel with panda eyes, before reaching for the cotton pads.
I used the Make Up Eraser on half of my face this evening in the shower. I thought this would give me a fair comparison to just water, without the Make Up Eraser. What can I say, it definitely works! I’ll still cleanse fully afterwards, but it prevents the panda eyed walk, which is a win in my book.
It got me curious, how was it working? I’d actually presumed it had some sort of chemical embedded in it, but I was wrong! The makers say that it’s a specially knitted polyester/silk fibre that is so fine that when wet it breaks down the surface oils of the product. So it really is product/chemical free!
I won’t be replacing my cleansing products, but I love this as a permanent item for the bathroom. It’s ideal for getting the muck off, and allowing my skincare to do an even better job. Hopefully it will mean I use less cotton pads too, as I seem to go through so many removing my eye make up.
A big thumbs up from me!
