MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lip Color Review & Swatches

Exciting! I have been stalking these new matte liquid lipsticks from MAC online for a couple of months, maybe longer, and I finally have samples to play with! This makes me very happy! I get very passionate about matte lips and new launches from MAC always get me going! Here’s a look at the new MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lip Color line up.

So these are seriously pigmented little beauties and they are super matte. Before I swatched these I made sure that my lips nice and moisturised because when it gets this pigmented and matte, it can be a little drying. I like the formula of these however.

I love the MAC Retro Matte formulation – Ruby Woo is a fave – so the idea of a liquid lipstick for even better staying power is amazing.

I love the packaging. The tops look like regular lipsticks, and then you open them up to reveal a really gorgeous flock applicator.  It is perfectly shaped for lining and defining the lips.

I have 4 of the shades to show you – Feels So Grand, Recollection, Personal Statement and Rich & Restless:

The formulation is super pigmented and a little goes a long way. Also it dries really quickly so you need to work fairly fast. This will please the people that find that many matte liquid lipsticks just aren’t matte soon enough.

I love the red shade, I think it is the easiest to apply and the result is pretty beautiful. I absolutely love it. The pink shade is a bit harder to apply evenly I found. The bright mauve and the salmony shade were nice and even, but for me, it’s all about Feels So Grand. Adore!

Because you don’t need a lot of product, a thin layer gives great coverage so it feels light on the lips. Fab! Loving these. I think I need more of the reddy shades!

They are really long lasting. Getting off each shade off my lips whilst I was swatching them was quite a task! I tried out Feels So Grand and it lasted a good four hours today before any signs of wear, and that was only because I tucked into a bit of a heavy lunch.
