I have been testing out, and consequently became addicted to, L’Oreal Paris Magic Retouch which is an instant root concealer spray. A short while ago, I had so much going on in my life that I didn’t manage to get my hair coloured for a really long time and I actually managed to delay getting it done for four whole months thanks to this little beauty. Although I am actually slightly ashamed to admit that…

So if you haven’t come across this before, let me just give you the low-down.

L’Oreal Paris Magic Retouch Features

  • Conceals greys and roots in a quick spray
  • Pinpoint micro-diffuser precisely targets
  • Rich colour pigments deliver perfectly blended coverage
  • Matches and blends with leading shades including salon colour
  • Lightweight formulation
  • Transfer proof
  • Lasts until washed out
  • 5 shades

So this is a pretty straightforward process. I usually spray it on once I’ve washed and styled my hair and it covers the greys until I next wash it. It literally takes a minute to apply and dry, so you can do it just before you walk out the door.

When my greys are showing, If I’m going to be out all day I pop it in my bag in case I change up my hair. Sometimes while I’m out I scrape it back into a ponytail and if I do that, I give the hairline a quick mist.

Magic Retouch Top Tips

Check out this quick video that explains everything.

Make sure you shake up the can really well. The key is to cover your face with your hand to protect your skin from the colour, then spray in a light stream. Coverage is quick so you don’t need too much. I’m quite an expert at it now so I rarely get any colour on my hand but if I do, I simply wash it off.

If you flip your parting around a lot during the day, you might like to section your hair and spray in a few different partings to make sure you have things covered. Once I have styled my hair, I usually leave it like it is, so I tend just to do my parting. I use shade Dark Brown which matches my natural hair the best. That’s the key to perfect grey coverage.

It’s amazing for keeping on top of things in between permanent colour. Also, our Editor Rebecca is a big fan. She goes through phases of huge sensitivity/ reactivity to hair dye, and can’t colour her hair, so this is the perfect solution.

It’s ideal for me because I only wash my hair a couple of times a week and it stays put until the hair is washed. So once I’ve done it, I can just forget about it. I went through 3 cans in about 5 months! Luckily I have had my hair coloured now and the regrowth will be easier to control with Magic Retouch.
