Well this is a very interesting yet simple skincare launch not least because it’s super instagrammable but also because it has been created by a doctor that’s regarded as one of the leading creative experts in the beauty industry. Check out LIXIR Skincare by Doctor Colette Haydon. I have the universal good skin trio to show you; Vitamin C Paste, Universal Emulsion and Electrogel Cleanser.
I know it’s shallow but the packaging, in perfect millennial pink, was the first thing that attracted me to these products. In tune with the simple yet beautiful look, Colette Haydon (who has previously developed formulas for REN) promises ‘an advanced yet relaxed approach to skin care’.
She says, “LIXIR is born of my skincare and formulating experience [and] is a mix of hardworking, everyday products and targeted molecules”.
LIXIR Skincare Range
Available here now:
- Vitmin C Paste £32
- Universal Emulsion £45
- Electrogel Cleaners £25
- Night Switch – Retinol 1% £28, Night Switch PHA/AHA 10% £20, Night Switch BHA/AHA 10% £20
The simple sophistication (quite the oxymoron!) of these products is so appealing. The cleanser contains negative charge to make it work harder, the Vitamin C Paste brightens skin and provides a natural sunscreen, and the Univeral Emulsion acts as both a day moisturiser, night cream and a base for serums.
The capsule collection consists of the three products I have here, with three Night Switches to boost the routine to target specific skin concerns.
LIXIR Vitamin C Paste
I have tried all three of these products today and on first try, I am really impressed. The Vitamin C Paste is lovely to use. It has an oil-gel texture that turn into a white cream as you massage it into the skin. After applying, you use damp fingers to work it into the skin and then leave it on for a few minutes (15 if you have more time).
This will appeal to a wide range of people because not only does it blast blackheads, it brightens and corrects, regulates melanin production and boosts collagen and elastin. You can use it as a quick morning skin prep, or leave it on longer as a mask, so it’s super versatile. It feels great and smells amazing.
LIXIR Universal Emulsion
What I love about the Univeral Emulsion is that it’s made for all over everywhere! You can use this on the whole face, eye contour, lips, neck, decollete arms and hands. And what’s really different is that the formulation uses a unique emulsification technique to deliver an SPF of 10 without adding actual sunscreen, so you can use it at night too. That kind of blows my mind.
The texture is super light yet intensely hydrating as it delivers molecular water to the skin and boosts the skin’s ability to hold on to moisture. It leaves a softly dewy finish and instantly perfects the skin’s surface.
LIXIR Electrogel Cleanser
I think this may be my favourite product from the range so far because I love cleanser and this one is so gentle that you can use it on the eye area, and it feels so clean and calming on the skin. It doesn’t irritate my eyes at all and although it feels like a simple cream cleanser, it carries a very small negative charge that helps deep cleanse the pores. Love it.
The trio, with perhaps the addition of one of the Night Switches, would make the simplest yet fully effective travel skincare, to look after all your needs.
