Lime Crime launched 8 years ago, and hasn’t stopped taking the online world by storm since then! Perhaps most famous for their Velvetine range of matte liquid lipsticks, Lime Crime seem determined to keep pushing the make-up envelope. The Lime Crime Velvetine Metallics range, like the other Lime Crime products, are certified vegan-friendly and cruelty free.

At first glance, the shade Lana is a deep metallic bronze, which is definitely not a shade I’d ever have considered wearing before. The swatch alone was pretty impressive, the depth of coverage was surprising!

Despite being a long-time wearer of liquid lipsticks, I hadn’t yet tried a Lime Crime product, so I was curious as to how it would feel and wear.

I applied it with the applicator, and was pleased at how easy I found it. They mention on the website that you can use a lip brush to neaten the edges, but I coped without. The less faff the better! It gave great coverage, with only one coat needed.

It set well, and I didn’t need to worry about smudging or smearing once it was dry. I was also pleased that it didn’t seem drying, which is often a concern with matte shades.

I didn’t find it survived eating very well, however it didn’t get everywhere, which is great, just needed a touch up in the middle of my lips.

A few days later, I set to work trying the second shade, Mercury. It’s a metallic lilac, and definitely a little harder to wear on my skin tone! I added a shade over the top before heading out!

I was impressed with how easy the formulas were to wear, and how they wore throughout the day. I’d definitely be keen to try some of the more ‘subtle’ shades in the future!
