I am a self-confessed fragrance fanatic.  I just love perfume – be it a spicy scent, a floral fragrance, a citrus concoction or a woody wonder. You name it, chances are I will love it.  Sometimes though, a certain perfume can leave you wanting just that little bit more, and Leighton Denny MBE, the man behind colour cocktailing of nail polish, has solved this little dilemma. Here’s the low down on Leighton Denny Light & Dark fragrances.

He has developed the Light and Dark range of fragrances, which are ideal for fragrance cocktailing.  Now, if you think your perfume if missing a bit of an edge, or could do with being a little bit fresher, you have the means in which to add the missing element, or just mix things up and create a scent totally to your taste.

Intriguing when worn alone, compelling if layered to create a fragrance cocktail, working with your body to create your own unique signature scent. – Leighton Denny MBE

I have been trialling the Colour Coded Purse Sprays which contain the 4 different scents.  These are great for chucking in your bag, and are a good way of trying out the fragrances before splashing out on the larger bottles.

Before you get all Tom Cruise, creating your cocktail, you need to remember Leighton’s ABC (it’s as easy as 123).

ASK yourself what you want from your fragrance.

BLEND your chosen perfumes.

CONTROL your bespoke scent.

Leighton Denny Light & Dark – The Range

There are 4 different scents available, each providing a different element to your perfume game.

ORIGINAL

If you want to add a bit more depth, then this is the one.  It is a gorgeous fruity mixture of pepper, myrrh and incense.  At the heart of the scent is gardenia, jasmine, lily and rose which merge beautifully with top notes of mandarin, grapefruit, peach and white pepper.

LIVELY (Unisex)

Lively adds an element of freshness to your fragrance.  It has sparkling citrus notes of bergamot, lemon and grapefruit which entwine with beautiful white florals and the warm spiciness of nutmeg, ginger, pepper and cardamom.  Base notes of sandalwood, patchouli, vetiver, ambers and musks complete the scent.

DESIRE (Unisex)

Maybe you want to give your perfume a bit more edge?  If so, you need this.  It is a celebration of dark woods including vetiver, patchouli and cedar tempered with moss, amber and crisp spicy elements of pepper and nutmeg.  It has citrus top notes of grapefruit, lemon and bergamot, along with a heart of neroli.

DELIGHTFUL

Finally, this adds a touch of playfulness.  Luminous and sensual, a bright burst of red fruits is delicately enveloped by a gentle bouquet of lotus flower, mirabilis jasmine and pink violet.  Underneath, sweet musk is punctuated by the slightest creamy vanilla and a light coconut sorbet.

The individual scents are all really lovely, and I have especially been loving Original and Delightful.  I also really like the fact that as well as creating your own bespoke scent with the Light and Dark range, you can also add them to other perfumes that you might own.  Because they react with your own body, the scent that you create will be unique to you, which I love.

The Leighton Denny Light & Dark purse sprays retail at just £9.50 each. Alternatively, pick up the set of 4 for £28.50 – there’s currently 25% off.  The larger individual bottles cost £48.50 each and they can all be purchased here.
