I have classic combination skin – an oily t-zone with enlarged pores. And although I rarely suffer with breakouts the Laura Mercier Foundation Primer Blemish Less sounds like it is just want my skin needs for shine control and a more pore-less look. I have been testing it out – here is how I got on.
Laura Mercier Foundation Primer Blemish Less Features
- Lightweight, water based gel
- Uses a blend of Salicylic Acid, Xylitol and Light Scattering Powder
- Silica and Non-Pore Clogging Silicones to help minimise the look of pores & blur imperfections
- Improves the appearance of blemishes with Aloe to reduce skin redness and irritation
- Controls shine by reducing skin oiliness
- Vitamin E to provide a clear, elastic barrier that helps skin feel nourished and protected against environmental aggressors
- Improves the hold of foundation for longer wear
It is a lovely light-textured gel that sinks in really easily and is invisible on the skin. It is comfortable and you can’t really feel it once applied. I concentrated application on the centre of my forehead, down and around the nose, and on the chin, which is where my pores are most visible and shine tends to break through my foundation.
Laura Mercier Foundation Primer Blemish Less Before & After
As this promises to immediately improve the appearance of imperfections and pores, I thought it might be useful to show how it looks on bare skin without foundation.
It definitely has a mattifying and pore-minimising effect instantly.
I tested it with my recent purchase, the Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow foundation, which I really like but have found needs quite a bit of powdering to keep it in place on the t-zone. It applied nicely over the Blemish Less, and I then set it with my regular powder (currently Makeup Forever HD Setting Powder).
After a couple of hours with Les Beiges, I usually have to give it a little powder touch up, but with the primer it was still looking good. I decided not to do any powdering for the rest of the day, and I have to say, I was really impressed. By 11pm, the foundation had worn off a bit around my nose, but I was a lot less shiny than I would normally have been. No makeup looks great at 11pm after a whole day, for this was a huge improvement for Les Beiges.
I am going to test it out with a few other of my faves, so if I have anything additional to report, I shall upate here.
