This is a completely high-tech, and entirely bespoke service whereby you can blend your very own foundation – not only achieving THE perfect match to your skin but also selecting your preferred finish for your skin type. So if you ever fancied a cosmetics lab experience, this is pretty near it, but without the lab coats and bad shoes. And guess what? Harrods has the European exclusive.

• Facial skin tone scan
• Data is processed through state-of-the-art algorithms that predict perfect match foundation and skin tone
• Choose the coverage – sheer, medium, full
• Foundation blended at the counter
• Shade number is printed on the bottle for easy reference and refills

What amazed me were the colours that go into the foundation. There’s white, black, yellow, and red pigments. Then on top of that. there’s moisturiser and thinner. I didn’t get any thinner in my formulation because I opted for a full coverage foundation. I do love a bit of full coverage. Thinner is automatically added into the mix if you request a sheer or medium coverage.

The initial blend provides enough ingredients for half a bottle in case the client requires any tweaks after it’s applied to the skin. Sometimes people like their foundation a little lighter or darker than they’re actual skin tone, so any adjustments can be made before the full quantity is blended.

We went straight ahead and finished the job because I was perfectly happy with my match.

My foundation is excellent. It uses a game-changing formula that’s infused with micro-fill technology. It is weightless and contains high-impact pigments that glide on to the skin. The moisturisers within the formula promise 24 hour hydration in a long-wear, oil-free and fragrance-free finish.

In terms of shade, it is staggeringly accurate and I love the finish, which perfects the skin without it looking unnatural or cakey. Excellent!
