La Mer The Concentrate Review – The NEW 2026 Formula: Is It Worth It?

La Mer The Concentrate has been reformulated again for 2026, and this time the focus is firmly on skin barrier repair, resilience and regeneration.
The NEW La Mer The Concentrate contains 4x Concentrated Miracle Broth, alongside new Liquid Barrier Technology and Clarity Algae. La Mer says the new formula is designed to help repair and strengthen the skin barrier while leaving skin looking regenerated.
This is particularly interesting to me because The Concentrate has been one of those La Mer products I’ve reached for whenever my skin has felt compromised, irritated or generally unhappy. I’ve used previous versions for years, so I was really interested to see whether the new formula would still give me that same SOS feeling.
I’ve now had the chance to put the NEW La Mer The Concentrate 2026 to the test on my own skin, so here’s everything you need to know about what’s changed, the new claims and, most importantly, whether I think it is worth the price tag.
What is La Mer The Concentrate?
La Mer The Concentrate is one of the brand’s most iconic skincare products and has earned something of a holy grail status over the years.
It is infused with La Mer’s signature Miracle Broth, but in a much more concentrated form, and has traditionally been positioned as a soothing, comforting treatment for skin that feels stressed, sensitised or compromised.
For me, that has always been where The Concentrate has really stood out. If my skin barrier has been unhappy, this is one of the products I have reached for.
The 2026 formula takes that barrier-supporting idea even further, with La Mer introducing new Liquid Barrier Technology alongside 4x Concentrated Miracle Broth.
What’s New About La Mer The Concentrate for 2026?
The Concentrate has been reformulated for 2026 with three key elements at the heart of the new formula:
4x Concentrated Miracle Broth
The signature Miracle Broth remains at the heart of The Concentrate, but the 2026 formula contains four times Concentrated Miracle Broth.
This is the ingredient La Mer is famous for, and it remains central to the brand’s approach to soothing and caring for stressed-looking skin.
New Liquid Barrier Technology
One of the biggest changes for 2026 is the introduction of Liquid Barrier Technology.
This is designed to support the skin barrier and help skin recover when it has been compromised, making barrier repair an even bigger part of the story behind The Concentrate.
New Clarity Algae
The new formula also contains Clarity Algae, which is focused on helping skin look clearer and more even.
I think this is an interesting addition because it broadens the appeal of The Concentrate beyond simply being the product you reach for when your skin is having a meltdown.
New La Mer The Concentrate Claims for 2026
La Mer’s new claims for The Concentrate are impressive.
After just one use, La Mer says that the skin barrier is repaired by 38%. And in consumer testing, 94% said the product left their skin looking regenerated. The 2026 formula is therefore putting much more emphasis on visible regeneration as well as barrier repair.

How To Use La Mer The Concentrate
The Concentrate can be used a lot of different ways. I mainly save it for any localised skin problems. For example, I’ll use it when I’ve got a dry, irritated or flaky patch that needs some extra care. I also use a light layer all over if my skin is feeling particularly sensitive or compromised.
It’s not something I personally use as an everyday serum. For me, The Concentrate is much more of an SOS product that I like to have in my stash for those occasions when my skin needs it.
You can apply a light layer instead of, or over, your usual serum and underneath moisturiser.
And it has that distinctive velvety texture that makes it feel incredibly luxurious to use.
My Review of La Mer The Concentrate 2026
I’ve used The Concentrate for years, so I was really interested to see what I would make of the new 2026 formula.
My first reaction was that it still feels very much like The Concentrate.
That gorgeous, distinctive velvety texture is still there, which I’m really pleased about. It’s one of the things I’ve always loved about the product. It feels silky and luxurious as you apply it, but I do think the new formula is slightly lighter than the previous version.
It’s a subtle difference, but I find that it seems to sink into my skin a little more effectively. And the smell is still absolutely amazing. It has that unmistakable La Mer scent that makes using it feel like a proper little skincare ritual.
Testing the NEW Formula
I’ve already had a chance to use the new formula on a genuine SOS situation, which is exactly how I tend to use The Concentrate.
I’ve had some dry, flaky skin that has been flaring up behind my ears and around my hairline, so I applied The Concentrate to the affected areas.
I was really impressed with how quickly it helped. Within a day or two, the area looked and felt much calmer and smoother, and the dry, flaky texture had really improved. It was a very good reminder of why I’ve always liked having The Concentrate around.
Obviously, this isn’t a controlled clinical test and I can’t say that my experience proves La Mer’s 38% barrier-repair claim. But in terms of my own skin, I could see and feel a noticeable improvement very quickly, and that’s exactly the sort of result I’m looking for from The Concentrate.
This is also why I don’t think I need to use it every day for several weeks to decide whether I like it. I know what I use this product for.
For me, it’s the product I reach for when my skin is irritated, dry, flaky or compromised and I want something that feels comforting and soothing.
And so far, I’m very impressed with the new formula. I think the texture is just a little lighter and even more lovely to use, while still retaining that signature velvety feel. Most importantly, it has given me the same feeling of having a really effective SOS product in my skincare stash.
How Does the NEW Formula Compare to the Previous Version?
I’ve used The Concentrate for years, so I have a pretty good idea of what I’m looking for from it. In fact, the first time I tried it, I have to confess I wasn’t really a believer. It has that slightly siliconey feel, which initially put me off a little. I couldn’t quite imagine it doing a lot for my skin.
I changed my mind when I first used it on my inflamed and sore scalp/hairline. Within a day, the area was much calmer and the irritation was soothed. Then I started to pay attention!
I subsequently used it on an area of irritation caused by rubbing from a sports bra, and also on a burn from my hair tongs, where it took the sting out very quickly. Over the years, I’ve come to think of The Concentrate as one of those products that is worth having around when my skin is not behaving itself.
So, when La Mer announced the 2026 reformulation, I was particularly interested to see whether it would retain that same SOS appeal.
Based on my experience so far, I don’t think the difference between the two formulas is dramatic, which I think will be reassuring if you loved the previous version. For me, the things I really loved about The Concentrate are still there, but I personally prefer the slightly lighter feel and easier absorption of the new formula.
Most importantly, having now used the 2026 version in the kind of SOS situation where I would previously have reached for The Concentrate, I’m very happy with how it performed.
So far, I’m very happy with the changes, and I’m very pleased to have the NEW 2026 version in my stash.
Is La Mer The Concentrate Worth It?
There is no getting around the fact that La Mer The Concentrate is expensive. At £195 for 15ml, it is absolutely a luxury skincare purchase and not something I would tell everyone they need in their routine.
But for me, The Concentrate has never really been about being an everyday serum.
I use it as an SOS product. It’s the one I reach for when my skin is dry, flaky, irritated or feeling compromised and I want something that feels incredibly soothing and comforting.
Having now tried the NEW 2026 formula, I’m very impressed and, based on how I use it, I think it still earns its place in my stash.
Would I use it every day? No, that’s not how I use The Concentrate.
Would I be happy to have it there for those occasions when my skin needs a bit of SOS TLC? Absolutely.
So, while I don’t think this is an essential purchase for everyone, I remain a fan of The Concentrate and I’m very happy to have the NEW 2026 formula in my stash.
