Kiko Lipsticks Review

To celebrate national lipstick day earlier in the month KIKO Milano kindly gifted me 6 of their lipsticks to test out. I’ve recently got really into wearing lip products after being teased about the size of my lips at school left me with quite a complex. So I was thrilled to be asked to try some Kiko Lipsticks out.

Kiko Lipsticks- Gossamer Edition Casing

I was sent a selection of nudes/neutrals and reds in 3 of their most popular formulas. These are: Gossamer edition, Glossy dream and Velvet passion. All are 3.5g in size.

Gossamer edition is a creamy formula with a shiny finish. The formula contains hyaluronic filling spheres and orchid extract.

The tube is a metallic gun metal barrel with a copper button on the top featuring the KIKO logo. This button when pressed releases the bullet. The base of which is the same gorgeous copper tone with the gun metal at the top. The bullet requires you to “click” it back into the barrel to close, making this quite secure for travel. Gossamer edition comes in 30 rich shiny and metallic colours.

Glossy dream is a sheerer formulation. It’s marked on the KIKO website as semi sheer and contains the same hyaluronic and orchid extract as the Gossamer. The Glossy dream is described as softening the lips leaving them supple and radiant.

The packaging is the same as the Gossamer with the button release but instead of the gun metal the main casing is a pale champagne gold colour. Glossy dream comes in 15 shades.

Velvet passion is as the name suggests the matte of the trio. The pigmentation on these is very high, offering an intense matte lip, perfect for recreating the Kylie Jenner “instagram lip” look.

IMG_0934This is a long lasting formulation, and maybe because of this the Velvet matte is available in colours that match the Ever Lasting Colour Precision Lip Liner Pencils KIKO offer. The casing is more like that of a traditional lipstick but with a magnetic fastening in the lid to help keep the lid and bullet together in your bag.

All formulas share the same delicious chocolatey scent, if you own any of the Too Faced chocolate palettes you’ll know the smell I mean. To be honest during wear I kept reapplying just so I could sniff the lipstick, not because I actually had to.

Nudes/Neutrals R-L:

104 – Gossamer a lovely mauve toned nude. On me a “your lips but better shade” perfect match.

201 – Glossy A beautiful peachy toned everyday nude.

316 – Velvet More of a red toned neutral rather than a nude. Perfect for the office or more formal occasion.

Reds L-R:

114 – Gossamer A classic pillar box red, what I couldn’t get to show on camera was the subtle gold glimmer within the bullet.

207 – Glossy Similar in appearance to the 114 but gives a much shearer application due to the formula.

312 – Velvet A deeper more cool toned red, imagine Joan Collins in Dynasty. Perfect going into AW.
