I absolutely love squeezing in an extra sensorial step into my skin care regime especially if it amps up the benefits of everything else I am using. And that’s what I have been doing with the new Jurlique Activating Water Essence and turning it into a new daily ritual.

So if you are really into your skincare, you’ll be familiar with the idea of an essence which represents the very first step in your skincare regime after cleansing. I am a huge fan of this step because it’s all about flooding the skin with hydration and then locking it in, and the Jurlique Activating Water Essence is an absolutely beautiful product. You will probably have seen it popping up quite a bit on my snapchat!

The Marshmallow Root Extract really is the key to how good this essence is. It is an amazing botanical ingredient that is known for its intensely soothing and hydrating efficacy. The root of the Marshmallow plant contains something called mucilage with is packed with hydrating, softening and balancing properties, and it attracts water and helps the skin to retain it.

Skincare is all about hydration for me and this essence is absolutely brilliant for making sure that my skin is spoiled with moisture. It feels so refreshing and silky as I press it into my skin. I use it after I have cleansed my skin and it is perfect to apply after I have toned my skin with a mist. One of my all time favourites happens to be the Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist Intense and it is SO gorgeous. It feels really refreshing and also uplifting and it’s one of my favourite elements of my skincare ritual.

I mist my face then put about four drops of the Jurlique Activating Water Essence into my hands and press it into my skin. I wait a few minutes and then continue with my serum and moisturiser, and if it’s daytime, my SPF product. Adding in this extra step makes my skin feel really plump and extra radiant and it ensures that my skin doesn’t dry out over the course of the day thanks to the Marshmallow Root Extract.

It’s a really simple and pleasurable addition to my skincare (it smells amazing) and is totally worth the extra minute or two. It gives me bouncy, juicy, happy skin.
