I have been desperate to try out the new James Read Tantour Sculpting Duo ever since I heard whispers about it many months ago. I finally have a sample and I am loving it! This is no ordinary contour kit so keep reading for all the details! Update: Find it here
So what we have here is a world first, which is very exciting but nothing new from self-tan innovator James Read. This Spring, he is also launching a tanning water facial mist (!!!) alongside a whole host of other boundary pushing products. James is super passionate about tanning, and the sky is the limit as far as he is concerned.
I am also extremely passionate about self tanning. A fake tan is the only tan I will ever get – partly because going brown is not something my skin does naturally but mainly because my mum survived a terrible facial malignant melanoma which has left emotional and physical scarring that will never fade. Overexpose to the sun is a risk I am not willing to take.
Anyway, enough of that and on to the product – which is fantastic!
The new James Read Tantour Sculpting Duo is an extremely clever little compact and one that is very true to James’ key vision for tanning. It isn’t just about adding colour to the skin, but actually sculpting the skin for the illusion of enhanced shape and tone. He has tanned all the global leading beauty icons, and is the man the stars go to before shoots or red carpet events.
James Read Tantour Sculpting Duo Features
- Mineral bronzer infused with self-tan
- Illuminating highlighter powder with satin pearl
- Contour is designed to deepen over a 4 hour period
- Skin is left with a subtle depth where you want it
- Suitable for face and body
- Comes with an angled sculpting brush
Now I haven’t yet got to the place where I spend time sculpting my body – far too much of it is covered up for that anyway – but as you know, I do love a bit of face sculpting.
The formulation of the James Read Tantour is really nice. The powders are fine and silky and the contour powder blends easily into the skin. The highlighter is very pretty and gives the skin a subtle glow. So if you are on the hunt for a skin-flattering day time highlighter, this would definitely tick the box.
James Read Tantour Swatches
The compact comes with a really good quality angled brush which works particularly well for applying the contour shade. It fits perfectly under the cheekbone to add depth just where you want it. I flip the brush over and use the tip of the angle to dust on the highlight.
I have used this for a couple of days and have found the lasting contour effect to be nicely subtle and skin flattering. No orange stripes on the face, just a nice shadow that gives the look of more lifted cheekbones. Excellent! As we are continually cleansing and treating the skin on our faces, it will never build up too much.
At £35, I think James Read Tantour is really good value as it’s a lovely sleek compact with a large mirror and a great brush. You can find it to order online HERE
