I was really interested to see what the new Hermes Plein Air Complexion Balm was like because I am pretty obsessed with complexion makeup products and wondered whether Hermes would have anything magical to add to the already busy arena. I have a couple of shades to show you with before and after photos. Here are my thoughts.

My Review of Hermes Plein Air Complexion Balm

Straight off the bat, I have to confess, this product isn’t really for me which I am a bit sad about because I really wanted to like it.

The problem I have is that there just isn’t enough coverage for me and it also looks a bit ‘SPF’-y on my skin. I also find that it doesn’t last that well for me. So, all in all, I’m just not getting what I want from it.

I feel like this is a base product that’s for someone that doesn’t really need a base product! If you have tried it, I’d be really interested to hear what you think.

Is it non-comedogenic?

The Hermes Plein Air Complexion Balm is non-comedogenic and dermatologist tested, so you shouldn’t need to worry about it blocking pores.

What is the best way to apply it?

Hermes suggest applying this with finger tips which I did, although I ended up smoothing it out with a buffing brush.

Does it hydrate the skin?

The Hermes Plein Air Complexion Balm formula has a HA hydrating complex along with other skincare ingredients. It has quite a creamy consistency that might not do too well on dry patches, so I am thinking you may not love it if your skin is dry.

Is it good for mature skin?

I think that this question depends on what kind of mature skin you have. If you don’t have a lot to cover, you could really like this. I have mature skin but I just want a bit more coverage.

What is the finish and coverage?

So the Hermes Plein Air Complexion Balm offers a sheer coverage that promises to be buildable. I couldn’t get too much coverage from it without using too much product and it feeling too much like an SPF.

The finish is actually really nice. It has a natural skin finish, however, I think that it actually emphasises my texture slightly and it makes my enlarged pores more visible. I think maybe it needs the matte powder to that comes in the range to smooth and blur.

Is it long wearing?

This didn’t last that well on my skin and I felt like it wore away around my nose quite quickly. Although it’s hard to tell because I never really got the coverage I wanted from it.

I think you could like this if you already like your skin, and just want something that adds some very sheer coverage and has SPF30 in it.

I hope all that helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions. You can leave a comment here, and drop me a message on Instagram.

Where to buy it

Hermes Plein Air Complexion Balm is £65 and available via:

If you are looking for something with a bit more coverage, check out the new Erborian Super BB, and for something in between the two, check out Rose Inc Skin Tint, which I also love.
