I love experimenting with different makeup looks. What I don’t like however, is removing my eye makeup, especially when I’ve used a lot of eyeliner. As my husband and my twin are both Opticians I know how bad it is to rub hard at your eyes. Sometimes, however, you must if you don’t want to look like a Panda! Anytime someone recommends a new makeup remover I must try it.

Gatineau have a very good reputation when it comes to skincare so I had high hopes for the Gatineau Floracil Plus Gentle Eye Makeup Remover. This is a bi-phase system, my favourite kind ,as I find them the most effective for removing even stubborn makeup. It’s infused with Aloe Vera, Vitamin E and Witch Hazel. These condition and protect the eyes making it suitable for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers. Ingredients include:
- Sodium Hyaluronate- deeply hydrates the eye area
- Vitamin E- protects the skin from free radicals
- Aloe Vera- heals and soothes puffiness
- Witch Hazel- activates microcirculation.
The best way to use this product is to apply to cotton pads, place over the eyes and leave to sink in for a few seconds, then gently wipe away. The first couple of times I used this I did find it stung my eyes. However I hadn’t read the instructions properly, it did say to rinse away with water afterwards. So, the next time I used it I placed a damp cotton pad over each eye and I didn’t notice any stinging.

In terms of effectiveness, I found this to be good at removing most of my eye makeup. I did have to go back over if I had a lot of liquid eyeliner on. However, for the most part, it was pretty good. It is definitely a high-end makeup remover, if you are after something similar but at a drugstore price point then the Nivea bi-phase solution is comparable.
