After gaining confidence with fake/self tan recently I was delighted to be offered the chance to try another well loved celeb favourite, Fake Bake, in the form of the Fake Bake Airbrush Self Tan.

They kindly allowed me to select the tan I’d most like to try, and being a low maintenance – read lazy- girl when it comes to application I went for the Airbrush aerosol tan with 360 degree nozzle. This allows for uninterrupted, streak free, all-round application.

Fake Bake Airbrush Self Tan Packaging

Packaging wise this product is gorgeous. It has a lovely gold canister that doesn’t look unattractive if left out in the bathroom. I applied at night as recommended. The box did contain a pair of gloves but I personally prefer a mitt. I had exfoliated and shaved earlier in the day and then shook the bottle as directed. I stood in the bath to apply so it could be easily rinsed away without staining the rest of the bathroom.

There is a lovely guide colour and a fairly pleasant smell. I held the aerosol about 10 inches away as directed and sprayed in vertical lines going around the whole leg. It’s recommended to apply two thin coats rather than one thick one.

It was marketed as fast drying and I did find this to be the case. I did wait 5 minutes between coats, but this was probably longer then I needed to be honest. I was careful to not spray too close to my feet as I just ran the excess on the mitt over instead.

I went to bed and showered off in the morning. There was no transfer onto my bedding and none of the awful smell that we expect from fake tan. When I rinsed off in the shower I did note the guide colour washing away, and once the water ran clear I gently soaped my legs.

Fake Bake Airbrush Self Tan Results

I was left with a beautifully golden tan with no visible demarcation lines around my feet or knees. My skin wasn’t dry but I did apply body lotion as normal out of habit. After 5 days my tan had started to fade but it was an even fade with no tell tale patchiness. This was nice as it didn’t mean I had to hide my legs until it had fully faded or reapply.

I was highly impressed by this aerosol tan and I shall certainly purchase it again. For the price I feel you actually need very little at a time, so it should last a while.
