Exuviance Bionic Oxygen Facial Review- blue pump cylinder on a plate
Exuviance Bionic Oxygen Facial Review

Exuviance is a dermatologist designed brand from the makers of Neostrata. I’m a big fan of a few of Neostrata’s products. I’ve found them to be really effective and skin friendly, so I was looking forward to trying something from their sister brand- Exuviance. Reportedly, Kate Middleton is a devoted user of oxygen containing products to brighten and rejuvenate her skin. And apparently, before a red carpet celebrities are all getting oxygen facials to give their skin a glow from within. This is something I need to try.

Oxygen is of course necessary for all cells to work properly, but can it be absorbed through the skin to rejuvenate skin cells? According to Exuviance, it can, giving skin a boost of detoxifying, brightening Oxygen in an instant.

The ingredients in Exuviance Bionic Oxygen Facial  include:

  • Triple oxygen delivery complex- Perfluorodecalin, Decafluoropentane and Perfluorohexane- Dissolves and delivers Oxygen to the skin, thought to revitalise skin and reduce wrinkles, some studies have shown that Perfluorodecalin improves the skin barrier and increases moisturisation
  • The Exuviance Bionic Complex– Lactobionic acid and Gluconolactone- These are polyhydroxy acids, they have similar exfoliating and anti aging effects to Alpha Hydroxy Acids but are less irritating.
  • Cucumis Sativus Fruit Extract (cucumber)– Cucumbers are rich in vitamins and nutrients, have astringent properties and give hydration.
  • Bio saccharide gum-1– Bio saccharides bind water to the skin and help reduce inflammation.

I researched the ingredients and found there is little in the Exuviance Bionic Oxygen Facial to irritate the skin. Low down the ingredient list, it contains Carrageenan, which is comedogenic, but this should be fine as the mask is rinsed off.

The gentle polyhydroxy acids will gently exfoliate and brighten while the biosaccharide improves hydration. The bubbles of oxygen will lift any dirt and makeup traces from the pores, it may have some visible brightening effects.

Exuviance Bionic Oxygen Facial Review

The Exuviance Bionic Oxygen Facial comes in an attractive tall cylinder blue and silver pump bottle. The mask is a blue gel which has a gentle fresh scent of cucumber. The instructions say to apply to clean damp skin for 5 minutes until the bubbles develop and leave on until the bubbles stop popping. The Facial is to be used three times weekly for brighter, more supple skin.

Once the mask is on, it takes about 3 pumps to cover the whole face, you can quickly feel bubbles forming. It gives a pleasant tickling feeling that lasts for about 5 minutes. The bubbles are pretty gentle, you don’t get a mass of foam, it’s a nice sensation. After rinsing my face feels smooth and fresh.

Exuviance Bionic Oxygen Facial In Use

I’ve been using the Exuviance Bionic Oxygen Facial for a few weeks now and it is certainly fun to use. It does make my face feel fresh, but it doesn’t dramatically change my appearance if I’m honest. I think the Oxygen Facial is a great product for refreshing and deeply cleansing skin after a day of full makeup and I’m sure it’s going to come in handy in the coming winter months to gently improve hydration and texture in the harsh cold weather. You can order it online here

I’ve loved everything else I’ve tried from Neostrata and Exuviance, they reliably produce skincare with good concentrations of actives. You should check out my review of their Retinol NAG complex, it produced some really impressive results.
