The start of a new season is a great excuse to treat yourself to a new fragrance, well that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it! There are always gorgeous new fragrance and beauty releases when spring begins which means that my beauty wish list is even longer than usual, which is very bad news for my bank balance… Here’s a look at E.Coudray Limited Edition Ylang Ylang Fragrance.
E.Coudray is a french fragrance and scented toiletries brand which was created by Edmond Coudray in 1822. Coudray created refined fragrances, creams and soaps for royal courts of the time. There are numerous fragrances in the range, with the latest addition being the E.Coudray Limited Edition Ylang Ylang Fragrance (£140, 100ml).
The fragrance come beautifully presented in a black hat box and contains top notes of rose, lily and iris as well as heart notes of sandalwood and vetiver. The base notes are patchouli and spices; all of which sound heavenly and perfect for the winter to spring transition.
I know that packaging is fairly superficial and it isn’t as important as the actual product but let’s be honest and admit that we all love a well designed and expensive perfume bottle and this one fits the bill exactly. The sleek black bottle with gold detailing just exudes luxury and quality as does the fragrance within.
E.Coudray Limited Edition Ylang Ylang Fragrance Notes
The top notes, the fragrance notes which are the lightest and the first to dissipate are sweet powdery florals that are so nostalgic and elegant to me; it conjures images of extravagantly dressed Parisian women of a time when being chic was an art form. The top notes of rose, lily and iris persist to create a powdery, musky and rich fragrance as the day goes on making it a unique feminine evening fragrance.
The main point I look for when it comes to fragrance is longevity, I’d rather not spend my money on a fragrance that will have completely dissipated after a couple of hours so I mostly choose to opt for more expensive but long lasting fragrances that I know will last all day, and this one is no exception. I can apply this fragrance, which dispenses as a very fine mist, in the morning and by the evening I’ll still be able to detect hints of it! It gives me around ten or more hours of fragrance which is very impressive, especially as it is an eau de toilette rather than an eau de parfum!
While I adore this fragrance with its deep musky notes and sweet timeless florals as well as the sleek bottle, I think it could be a little old or formal for some. However I think it would make such a beautifully luxurious gift for anyone that loves richer, more classic fragrances…or as a gift for yourself, I’m not judging.
