Dr Jart+ Premium BB Beauty Balm SPF 50 Review & Swatches *

So Dr Jart are calling this ‘Looks Like You’ coverage which is kind of a cute way of saying that it delivers a very natural skin finish. Personally, I’d say this is a good medium coverage base, and you can certainly build it up in the places you want more coverage.

Although the Dr Jart+ Premium BB isn’t formulated to be a long-wear base product, however, I find this lasts really well on my complexion. I think this is down to how well it hydrates my skin and I know that my makeup always last better when my skin stays hydrated. My skin tends to literally eat makeup when it is dehydrated.

I find that the Dr Jart+ Premium BB is expert at covering redness. I suffer with a bit of redness around the sides of my nose and my chin and the shade Fair – Light tackles this really easily. If you suffer with extreme redness, using the Cicapair Colour Correcting Treatment underneath the Premium BB works really well.

In terms of my dark spots and hyperpigmentation, I love how the coverage of the Dr Jart+ Premium BB veils the skin rather than masks. You can still see my pigmentation, but my entire complexion looks much more uniform in a really natural way.

This formula is great for dry skin. It contains 5% glycerin which is a brilliant hydrator, and I have to say it really does keep my skin beautifully hydrated.

This formula contains 2% Niacinamide which arms it up well for oily skins. Niacinamide is brilliant for reducing sebum production and minimising the appearance of pores. I have a combination skin type. I am traditionally oily in the T-zone, although my skin is definitely becoming less oily as I approach 50. I find this offers great moisturisation for my dehydrated areas and isn’t heavy on my oily areas.

Yes, this is great for my mature skin (I am almost 49). It gives you loads of moisturisation, the Niacinamide is great for the appearance of pores and fine lines, and the SPF 50 provides the best defence against UV which is vital for maintaining youthful looking skin.

The new Premium BB uses a mineral and chemical sunscreen. It uses broad spectrum SPF 50 protection to shield against UVA and UVB rays.

This BB cream contains a really good broad spectrum SPF 50 protection. In terms of dosage, it depends on how much product you use. So if you like to use a generous amount of product, you will likely receive the SPF coverage you need. If you are a light user, then I’d recommend applying a dedicated SPF product first.

However, regardless of dosage, all SPF needs topping up after around 2 hours, so you will need to reapply if you are exposed to the sun whether you are using the BB cream or a separate SPF. Using the Dr Jart+ Premium BB Beauty Balm SPF 50 will mean you have great high coverage in addition to anything else you are using.

As the Dr Jart+ Premium BB is packed with skincare, you can skip moisturiser if you wish. Of course you can apply it over your regular skincare if you want to, just like a normal foundation. However, this product is designed to deliver your skincare, complexion makeup and UV protection all in one.

The Dr Jart+ Premium BB finish is really lovely. It is naturally radiant without being shiny or glittery. It gives a lovely coverage that really enhances and perfects the skin, whilst still allowing you to see the skin through it. It’s really natural looking and super flattering.
