I was extremely interested to try these sticks from DIOR because I’ve heard quite a few contradictory things about them and I needed to know! Here’s my review of the DIOR Stick Glow Blush from the Summer 2021 collection called Summer Dune. I have photos and swatches.

What is DIOR Stick Glow Blush?

I think the big question seems to be: is this a blush or a highlighter and does it matter what shade you choose? Well I will get to that later in the post.

Here is what DIOR say:

  • Sensorial balm texture
  • Highlights the cheeks and cheekbones with a
  • Gives the face an instant healthy effect
  • Travel-friendly format
  • Available in 2 subtly shimmering shades

Highlights

  • Gorgeous balmy texture
  • Hydrating, comfortable feel
  • Easy to apply
  • Super sheer

I think the key to understanding these products to see seem them as more of a balm highlighter complexion stick than a blush stick because the shades are super sheer.

They are so sheer, in fact, that I don’t think it would matter which shade I selected. This isn’t to say that I’m not a fan of these. In fact, the opposite it true, I love the glowy, juicy, dewy finish of these on the skin. However, for my skin tone, there is very little colour payoff.

Is DIOR Stick Glow a blush or a highlighter?

My view on this is that this is definitely more of a highlighter balm than a blush stick. For me, both shades add a translucent shine to the skin, rather than any colour. The dewy finish is lovely and juicy looking.

Can the colour be built up?

As the formula is so sheer, it’s pretty hard to build up any colour. I think if I was able to build colour, I’d probably end up with too much glow. So, in short, the answer is no!

Does it break up foundation?

I have been applying either shade straight from the stick, then blending, and have had no problems with it disturbing the makeup beneath. Obviously it’s best to apply gently.

It also looks really nice on completely bare skin.

How do you apply it?

It’s really easy to apply. I have been using it straight from the stick, however you can use a brush or fingers to pick up the product and then press it over the skin.

It is sticky?

The Dior Stick Glow Blush does leave a slight balmy tackiness on the skin, but nothing more than you’d expect with a formula like this.

How long does it last?

This isn’t a long wear product by nature of its super dewy formula. You get a lovely gloss on the cheeks for a few hours, but then you may need to top up. Considering how travel friendly these sticks are, it’s pretty easy to refresh the look with a quick dab.

Will it move around the face?

I think this formula stays put quite well and haven’t noticed it bleeding into the rest of my makeup.

Does it make skin oily?

I didn’t find this makes my skin oily, and I am careful to use this on tops of cheekbones and typical places I’d highlight rather than any areas more prone to oiliness.

What Skin Type is DIOR Stick Glow good for?

I’d imagine if you do have an oily skin, it may be better to steer clear of this. I think it’s probably best suited to dry or mature skin types.

How much shimmer is there?

Although you can detect shimmer in the formula from the stick, I can’t see this translating on to skin at all. It definitely has a more dewy, wet-look finish, rather than a shimmery one.

Is it easy to blend?

The Dior Stick Glow Blush is really easy to blend, mainly down to the fact that the pigmentation is so sheer. You could probably skip blending altogether to be honest!

What skin tones will they work for?

This is a tricky question because you can look at it two ways. It’s so sheer that it will work all all skin tones as a highlighter, but it you wanted to see some blush type colour pay off, you’d probably need to be pretty fair.

My skin sits in the light range, and I can’t see any colour from either of the shades, just a very pretty dewy highlight.
