When I say foundation is my super staple beauty product, I say it with conviction because I wholeheartedly need a good canvas to work on. So, let me tell you all about how I got on with the Dimitri James Skinn Plasma Fusion Serum Foundation Duo.
Firstly, I am always somewhat skeptical when a company boasts a flawless finish and soft focus skin effect. However, when it’s been specially formulated by a professional makeup artist like Dimitri James you can expect big things.
So here is what Dimitri James Skinn Plasma Fusion Serum Foundation Duo claims:
- Full of plasma pigments which help to diminish lines whilst refracting light
- Anti ageing peptides and barrier repair technology
- Hydrating botanical actives to produce that soft focus
A major pro that stood out to me:
- Dimitri has innovatively sought out ingredients that really work, for instance Tetrapeptide-14 Matrix which really helps to sheer over those red areas of the face.
I’m a natural blonde (Shh- don’t tell anyone!) but I have dark dyed hair so therefore I decided on the medium shade duo which includes a Natural and a Beige.
There are other options for lighter skin and darker skin, so there is definitely a shade for everyone. The reason I confidently say that is because the foundations are sold as a duo to be used together, mixing them together to bring you the perfect shade. Once you work out the perfect harmony of the two shades you are able to get a fabulous finish.
The packaging of the product is really actually quite nice. If, like me, you adore classic, mono-tonal styles the black and almost frosted glass bottle is very clean and fresh. The bottle works through a pump applicator which this keeps the bottle nice and tidy with minimal mess. Yes I try to keep my makeup bottles and products clean. Guilty. It also prevents you transferring bacteria from your fingers into the product.
The application process was fairly easy. I used two pea sized pumps of each colour on the back of my hand. I then used the Professional Fusion Illusion Foundation Brush to mix the colours, added an extra half pump of the beige and found my perfect match.
I applied it to the middle of my face with the brush, spreading the product and then buffing into my skin in a circular motion, right out the the edge of my face and little down my neck.
The formula itself is a great consistency, not too runny and not too cakey. It’s a nice, smooth product that seemed to glide on and really work well when applying.
The scent is a pleasant, fresh makeup smell. I don’t know about you but I won’t wear anything on my face that can overpower a perfume.
Another point I really want to shout about is that the staying power is fantastic. I am terrible for touching my face or cuddling my son in the day and to be honest I usually leave a small imprint of my face. However I haven’t noticed any product on anyone or anything. This is a major bonus for me!
I tend to buy high end foundations and would certainly put the Plasma Fusion Serum Foundation up there on quality. In fact, I’d put this foundation a little higher ranking than high end foundations as I can change the shade as and when may be needed due to tanning.
I am really impressed with this product, the foundation has certainly lived up to the claims and really enhances the base. Skinn’s motto is “What counts is inside” the Plasma Fusion Serum Foundation Duo has certainly earned its title.
