2021: Following news of Lauder’s acquisition of The Ordinary’s parent company, Deciem, for a potential $2.2, there’s more newness and it’s pretty different! Today, 24th February 2021, Deciem is launching its first home fragrance called Abnomaly, SHOP. I have it and it’s gorgeous. This is such an interesting story and really special because it starts with Brandon Truaxe, Deciem’s much loved, and missed, founder. Plus, if you have ever been in a Deciem store, and loved how it smelled, this is very exciting news indeed!

What is Deciem Abnomaly SHOP?

Abnomaly SHOP, a home fragrance, is the comforting scent of a Deciem store, bottled! “SHOP encapsulates Deciem’s playful nature, elevating any space through a collection of cozy fragrance notes.”

When Deciem stores first started opening, Brandon wanted to create “a multi sensory experience in store, offering customers a feeling of familiarity when visiting DECIEM so you always felt close to home, even if you were far away.”

Brandon decided he wanted to work with renowned perfumer, Azzi Glasser, to bring his vision to life.  So together they created a bespoke fragrance with the sole purpose of scenting Deciem stores.  And now we can buy it!

Azzi says, ‘Brandon knew that smell is a tricky sense to convey through space, especially invisibly, and briefed me to create a fragrance that could transport one directly into the world of Deciem. He wanted a feeling of being lifted into a comforting, cosy bubble with a touch of edginess’

The Notes in Deciem Abnomaly SHOP Room Fragrance

Abnomaly SHOP opens with spicy Black Poivre mixed with Cypress oil. In the heart there is Iso E Super which is the perfumery chemical made famous by Escentric Molecules’ Molecule 01, and also a chalky note.

The warmth comes from notes of Guaicwood, Sequoia, and fresh Cedar, along with the balsamic notes of, Labdanum resin, White Amber Crystals, White Musk, and Patchouli.

I love the earthiness of the Patchouli. It gives the scent its edginess and intensity.
