Well, this is something I’ve never seen before! If you’re someone who regularly straightens their hair and hates all the faff and bother that regular straighteners involve, then the Dafni Hair Straightening Brush may just be the answer to your prayers.
Unlike normal straighteners that clamp the hair between two plates in order to effectively iron it straight, this nifty little brush from Dafni instead allows you to straighten your hair just by brushing it. Clever, huh?!
Designed to be similar in the hand to a regular hairbrush, the Dafni Hair Straightener has a 3D ceramic surface that heats up to a temperature of 185 degrees celsius. That temperature remains constant with practically every brush stroke, allowing you a quick and easy way to straighten.
To use, you plug the brush in at the mains, hit the button, and wait 60 seconds for the green light to illuminate and tell you that it’s ready. So far, so quick.
Then, it’s simply a case of brushing through your hair as you would as if you were brushing it normally, and it straightens as it goes.
I have the kind of hair that requires daily taming if it isn’t going to descend into a frizzy, ageing mess. Normal straighteners work well on my hair from dry, but because it’s frizzy but I have a lot of it, they take a considerable amount of time to go through all the layers, taking at least 10-20 minutes a day to do a decent job.
By contrast, the Dafni is significantly faster, although I’m not convinced its any easier to avoid the problem of the underneath layers at the back remaining slightly bumpy if you have a frizzy, curly hair type. Although the instructions claim that you don’t need to section your hair, for 100% perfect results on curly or very frizzy hair, I’d recommend you do.
So what are the main advantages of the Dafni Hair Straightening Brush over a standard straightener?
- It heats up fast and is ready in 60 seconds
- Other than the cord it feels like using a normal hairbrush
- Much easier to use than normal straighteners – you don’t feel like you need double jointed elbows to do the back!
- Better for your hair because you aren’t clamping it between two heated plates.
- It’s fast, it takes a lot less time to use than normal straighteners.
- Handy auto off function so you never have to run home to turn it off.
The disadvantages of the Dafni as compared to a regular straightener are very few. I think because you are not clamping the hair between two hot plates it does a very slightly less perfect job than a regular straightener leaving a slightly less perfectly sleek look. So if you like that very flat, very ironed look and you have curly hair this might not be quite enough to satisfy you. Similarly, at the back of your hair, and on the top part next to your scalp it’s difficult to get as much tension as you might like to get it perfectly straight. You can counteract this by holding the end of your hair to increase tension as you brush through.
Overall though, if you’re the kind of person that needs to get out of the house quickly in the mornings but can’t face the world without using your straighteners, you’ll love how fast and effective this is.
