Contouring has been the rage for a while now and is still going strong so when one of my favourite budget brands introduced the Collection Highlight, Blush & Bronze trio I was really excited to try it.
The first thing I noticed when I received this was how shimmery the highlight and blush seem. I then noticed that the bronzer was matte but potentially too dark for my fair skin and also slightly warm toned, however that didn’t put me off trying it out.
Collection Highlight, Blush & Bronze Application
On the back of the packaging there are instructions on how to apply this which says to sweep the blush on first, followed by the contour and finally the highlight.
I have to admit I have always put the contour on first when doing my makeup, which was also suggested by Francesca Neill, Collection and Celebrity Makeup Artist however I decided to use it the way it was directed on the packaging.
The results of which you can see below:
The packaging is a sturdy plastic and has a little mirror at the top when you open it. This is great for on the go but not the most effective size for me personally.
I used three different brushes to apply the product. A small bamboo brush for the contour, an elf highlighter brush for the blush shade as it is a lovely fluffy brush and for highlight the real techniques small setting brush which I find really great for highlight placement.
Immediately I noticed the blush was exceptionally shimmery and a lovely sheer pink. The bronzer was very pigmented and it was really hard to blend in as contour.
The highlight stole the show for me applying it this way as it was outstandingly glowy but not glittery.
The other way it suggest to apply it is by mixing all three with a big powder brush and sweeping it all over your face.
This was my favourite way to apply this product as it was so natural and gave an all over glow that wasn’t too structured. Definitely something for those wanting a softer look.
I also used the contour shade as a crease shade which works well but does need some extra blending.
Collection Highlight, Blush & Bronze Final Thoughts
I was initially worried about the contour shade but I am so pleased that there is a way it works for me. I think if you, like me, are fair skinned you will enjoy it in the same way.
