My Review of the Chantecaille Rose de Mai Cleansing Balm

Chantecaille Rose de Mai Cleansing Balm

I love a balm cleanser so I was really excited to try this super luxurious one from Chantecaille. The packaging is absolutely stunning and, as expected, it smells amazing. If you have ever used the iconic Pure Rosewater* from the brand, you will know what I mean.

I literally couldn’t wait to get this on my face. I was excited to see that it was a cream-based balm, rather than an oil-balm, as I have loads of those and this seems quite different.

The texture is more like that of a rich moisturising balm. It melts effortlessly over the skin as you work it in to your face. As I have already said, it smells amazing. I actually first tried this balm a month and a half ago when I had a Chantecaille facial at Harrods, and the smell of it takes me straight back to that beautiful spa.

The balm has a lovely soft, silky texture and it works quickly to break down makeup and dirt. It feels really gentle on the skin and the senses. After massaging, you can simply use a damp face cloth to remove, but I like to add a bit of water and turn the balm into a soft, sudsy milk before I do that. If you wanted to make it even more luxe, you could replace the water with Chantecaille’s Pure Rosewater to emulsify.

The balm leaves my skin feeling super clean and fresh, with a gorgeous hydrated glow. It’s pricey, but so much more of a treatment than a basic cleanse. I find a little goes a long way though, so a pot won’t be disappearing too quickly.
