If you’d love the kind of glowing skin that regular spa facials can deliver, but lack sufficient time or funds to regularly indulge your skincare dreams, the Casmara Rejuvenating Peel Off Mask Kit might just be the ‘at home’ answer to your prayers.
Containing 24 carat gold dust as well as calcium, zinc, iron, potassium, magnesium and manganese the makers claim this mask reinforces the skin’s structure, provides intense moisturisation and restores the skin’s balance lost with ageing.
I am the perfect candidate to test these claims-too many late nights (insomnia rather than partying, sadly) have certainly left my skin looking a little weary and unbalanced of late and let’s just say that I’m no longer in the first flush of youth. Now in my (very!) early forties I’ve noticed an increased number of fine lines fanning their way out from my eyes across my cheeks and a scattering of wrinkles on the bridge of my nose.
Casmara Rejuvenating Peel Off Mask Kit Contents
The kit contains a pre mask ampoule of revitalising cream that felt soft and comforting on my skin and which massaged in easily, leaving my face looking and feeling well moisturised.
Also included in the package are two sachets. One contained what looked like very finely ground gold dust and sent a puff of shimmering haze into the air when I opened it. The second contained a clear gel flecked with gold. When mixed together in the lid of the container they made a thick, gloopy, shimmering paste that looked luxurious and expensive and glinted in the sunlight.
Casmara Rejuvenating Peel Off Mask Application
Application is slightly fiddly, but included in the pack is a link to an online video that demonstrates the best technique for applying the mask. Nonetheless, while the example cases achieved a smooth, even finish to their masks, on application mine looked more like a melting waxwork!
I was very surprised to see that the mask is applied over the whole of the eyelids and I was slightly apprehensive about doing this, wondering whether a peel off mask covering the whole eye area would pull out my already spartan eyelashes and eyebrows.
Taking 15-20 minutes out of your life to relax in a face mask, even at home, does feel very indulgent, especially when it is one that feels as good as this one did. I have to confess to drifting off to sleep for a while whilst the mask was drying. Luckily, I had set an alarm for 20 minutes later or I might have slept all afternoon, cocooned in a haze of bliss. I’m not sure if it was the slight pressure of the mask on my eyelids or the gentle, cooling effect, but it was deeply relaxing, just as in a real spa facial.
If you remember the sensation of peeling glue from your fingers at school and how satisfying that felt, this mask is like the ultimate luxury version of that. Many peel off face masks I have tried in the past don’t really peel off as cleanly as you hope they might, leaving you with patches of product left behind. Not so in this case. The Casmara mask needed only the lightest of touches at the edges before it peeled off in one enormously indulgent, satisfying sheet- importantly leaving all my eyelashes and eyebrows intact!
Immediately the mask was off I could feel that my face was much softer than before and peering closely into the mirror I could see that the puffiness and fine lines around my eyes were visibly reduced. Not only that, but my skin looked really clean, clear and hydrated- the way it used to a few years ago.
Although my eye area had the most dramatic improvement, my skin overall looked tighter, brighter and genuinely, amazingly improved, so much so that I left off foundation and concealer and went out shopping with bare skin afterwards- something I really don’t do very often!
Casmara masks are suitable for all skin types and are available at Boots.com for £9.99.
